I've always thought a U' push move was pushing away by EXTENDING the right index finger. More specifically, the right index finger starts on the top-left sticker of the R face, then the finger extends to be straight, going around the back.
A U "pull" move was the normal turn, that is with the right index finger on the B face, BENDING the finger towards you. "Pull" is towards you, "Push" is away from you. Technically pulling is pushing towards yourself, but no one says that.
But according to the wiki (not a reliable source), it's actually the opposite and this doesn't make sense to me.
What do you guys think? Similar terminology would apply for all faces. With the LEFT hand, a ring finger push is D' and a ring finger pull is D. Pushing in this case is harder because it requires hand flexibility and requires practice.
Related: A "flick" in my view is an advanced fingertrick where you push with the back of your finger (the side on the "back of the hand" with the fingernail). For the right index finger, a U' flick requires you to maneuver your finger in front of the cube, then push away with the back of the finger.
