Finally sub 1 minute!

Congrats! My first sub 1 minute solve was quite incredible actually. Before that my personal best was 1:03, and i was just sitting here and thought i'd give it a go. On my first try i did a 56:58 solve.

That was my personal best until last night. I haven't been solving so much lately because i've been focusing completely on learning the PLLs, so my cube is always either solved, or needs a single PLL alg to solve. So last night i thought i'd try again. First try i did a 50.38 solve. I couldn't believe it.

But i know why. PRACTICE. It's all about practice hey :D

So congrats man! Keep it up :D

what techniques do you use to break a minute or was it a one off because I once got 50.00 but I have not broken a minute since?

Good job! I remember the first time I broke a minute. I was so freaking excited.

Keep practicing, man! Every barrier is great. Breaking 50, 40, 30, 20, all are very exciting.

Wait till you break 20. That's been the most exciting for me so far. I just did that for the first time the other night. I totally flipped.

Greetings everybody.

I've been cubing for a couple of months (but not so extensively), and I'm using Petrus method. My solves are around 52,51,59,65,49,38(lucky), but every ~15 solves there is a 70-75 solve, so I'm not sure if this counts as sub-60. I tried intuitive Fridrich and the times are oscillating too (worst 80, best 65).
Anyone else got severely erratic times?

I'm around 30 seconds and I still have severely erratic times. Last week for the online competition here I had: 24.05, 33.47, 34.55, (23.26), (53.95), for a 30.69 average. I occasionally ruin an OLL - that's usually the cause of my really bad times. Most times when I do an average of 100, I have at least one time over a minute. But definitely I'm an unusual case for a 30 second solver.

If you're still around a minute, it's really normal to have erratic times. Hopefully by the time you're at 30 seconds, you won't be as bad as me about it, though.

Yeah, on my best 10of10 average on ryanheise.com, I got a 18.66 and a 39 for an average of 24.24. The best 8of10 is 23.01.
Bad ones are messed up PLL or really bad look ahead.

can the posters also include how long before they got sub 1 min.. im still at 1:30 but just started cubing for just about a month now...
