Tysm!Nice work far! Also, I like that you set goals for yourself, that's always the way to go. I was wondering: How do you go about memorizing new algorithms? I know that I personally struggle with it, so I'm stuck at 2-look oll and pll. And you seem to have a bit more experience than me lol. Any advice?
Well, I would say that learning algs is not easy for anyone.
But this is what I do:
I go to speedcubedb and they list various algs for each case. I think that this is VERY important. Avoid those lists that have a single algorithm, because you may not adapt to it and you will have a hard time learning. (For the megaminx alg sheet that I found there is just one alg for each case but for 3x3 and 2x2 you will find lots of algs for the same case on speedcubedb)
Then I apply the first alg and if I don't like it I try to learn the next one and so on. For example, for cll some algs were pretty bad but I picked the ones I could do fast and comfortably.
Then I opened the trainer at speedcubedb and put only the 3 cll cases I was learning, and removed the image that shows the case, then I recognized the case and applied the alg. I couldn't remember at first so I had to look the alg a few times. But at the end of the session I got the 3 down.
I try to somehow create "stories" or associations, for example, this case
this is the alg:
R' F R F' R U' R' U' R U' R'
I could do the alg very fast but I was not connecting recognition to alg execution, so I created an association
R' F R F' R U' R' U' R U' R'
You see that the first trigger is sledge hammer? And notice how there is a formed "pair" at the right on the top layer. So I noticed that I just had to insert that block and do the rest of the algorithm. When I understood this I could see the alg and imediately draw my attention to the block, so I knew what to do.
The cool thing is that I can also do the mirror of this alg by knowing this
And for the 3x3 oh pll that I learned I just repeated it a lots of times =P, I kept making mistakes but after a lot of tries I got muscle memory for it
So yeah, I would say, do the alg looking at the alg sheet a ton of times and then try to make without looking? lol
You could set a schedule to learn X algs in a period, I think that is the best way, and it will get easier with time
Good luck!
(Ik this is your progression thread and dont want to get too off topic)
No problem dudeeeee
feel free to ask!
