In competitions, does it usually matter if the cube is fake (i.e. does not have the Rubik's logo on the white center piece)? I have a competition tomorrow that is just a local one where I live, organized by Toys R Us, that states that you must use an OFFICIAL cube, which has the logo. However, I have an EXCELLENT cube right now, but without the logo on it (it moves very smoothly and is good at cutting corners, the only real disadvantage being its high POP rate, as the springs can stretch quite far). I do still have one cube with the logo on it that is from Toys R Us, but is not very good for speedcubing. My best average for my better cube is 37.xx compared to 47.xx for the slower one. Since not many shops sell Rubik's cubes where I live (Toys R Us is the only one which I know I can get OFFICIAL cubes from, and I know of another one where I got my better cube from), maybe they made us use OFFICIAL cubes for commercial purposes (i.e. people need to go to Toys R Us to get them)?
Also, the rules say that sanding/lubricating is not allowed, not sure why though...
