There are different Cores, for different cubes. But does it REALLY make a difference? i've heard people say that a core will not make any significant changes to how the cube feels and works. But, i've also heard that the ability to corner cut/ how much it locks up is based on how hollow the inside of the cube is (the "inner circle" the core is inside it.) Now, i've heard C4Y cores work best when hybrid-ing, but why is it so? Do different cores have any REAL effect on the cube?

What you've heard about C4U cores and hybriding, is probably talking about the C4U frame, or the C4U fittings, which screw best into the C4U core.

Why does Type C suck in your opinion? Sheng-Le is my favourite.

uh well, it locks up too much for me, at least mine. it is a type C/c4y hardware. i've set the spring backwards, and it locks alot less, but corner cutting is not as good as i'd like. i don't even have the original type C hardware. i bought this cube off daniel.

imo i would say cores do make a difference. for example i had a storebought that sucked. (see signature), switched the storebought core with the edison core. storeboght hardly popped, cut corners, but locked up about 3 times a solve. the edison was really fast, but cut alot worst and never locked.

Ahhh, I'm talking about Type C (Sheng-Le) as a whole. With the miniC, original C (not the greatest), and CII (amazing in my opinion), they are by far my favourite of the Chinese types. F comes in second though.

F-II is my favourite cube so far :D i have two type Cs and don't like either of them. one of them is an original type C. i thought Type C was GuoBing, or something. i basically dislike any cube with lockups.

Ahh, I definitely agree that once getting my FII I realized just how much my C's lock up. I don't mind really, because they're really fast and feel pretty solid. I like havin various types of cubes.

The only issues I've had with cube cores are with the type-C, and its really just an issue of reliability. The cores on my Type-C's tended to be too soft to hold the screws in, which sometimes caused layers to unscrew themselves.

I also find them harder to put the screws in straight. I've had no problems with other cores, but I have to be careful with C cores.

would the core being small/bigger in size have any effect on pop/locks/cutting?

I know with something like the A(lpha) V other cube's pieces don't work with it because of its slightly smaller size, so that might be the case with cores as well. Too lazy to check though.
