okay so i as i entered the door to my house, i tripped over the package that contained an eastsheen 5x5 from mefferts (i really did trip). so i was very excited, so i opened it and started playing with it. i decided i needed to lube it, but then one side of the cube just falls off. the screw and center piece (not cap, but piece) was still there, i simply pulled out the screw because i saw that it was screwed in way too far that is grinded up the socket. so i figured that's why the side fell off. because the screw was very loose. i tried screwing it back in, but it would never stop, since it has no place to stop because it grinded too far in. i'm so freakin ****ed right now. brand new cube came broken. $25, 3 weeks of waiting, and nothing but this broken piece of crap. wow. i just emailed the guy. he better respond.

i know it's not the seller's fault, but the producers. i hope i can get a refund..

Hmm, I'm not sure about overseas, but here in NZ, it is the law that all goods must be provided in perfect working order. Any damaged goods must be replaced or refunded, by law.

...i know it's not the seller's fault, but the producers. i hope i can get a refund..

Well, acutally it is the seller's fault. The seller is the person you paid money to, which means that the seller is the one who is obligated to you - not the manufacturer. You never entered into an arrangement with the manufacturer; you entered into an arrangement wtih the seller. If you were paying wholesale prices and buying from the manufacturer (like the seller does) you might be able to absorb a few broken cubes. You're paying retail, which means the seller is making a profit by selling to you. The seller is the one who put a broken cube into a package and shipped it to you. It is very much the seller's fault.

I'm fairly sure they'll rectify the situation, too. But the problem is that you paid for this 3 weeks ago. First you had to wait for it to arrive, now you're going to have to send it back to Mefferts (another 3 weeks) and then they'll ship you a replacement (yet another 3 weeks). So in the end, they will have had your money for two and a half months before you had the product. I don't know about you, but I find that unacceptable.

If I were you I'd get on the phone right away and let the seller know how unhappy you are, and that you expect an expedited replacement shipment immediately, and that you feel you should be compensated in some way for your time and trouble.

yeah i guess it's the seller than. i was very unhappy. was gonna go crazy. but i'm gonna try to be patient and just wait for that email. and i better see it in my inbox.

Well, it's the manufacturer's fault that it broke but it is the seller's responsibility to get you a new one either way.

isn't meffert's a chinese site also? i don't know, every cube i've gotten from meffert's is extremely stiff, stiffer than rubik's cubes. but once i lube them (which is right away), they feel perfect. like a day and night difference.

and good thing, i'm gonna get a refund! i'm happy now. and i don't even have to send in the defective one. so another 3 weeks.. sigh..

Do I understand you correctly? Meffert's is going to refund your money in three weeks? Why three weeks instead of now? And why aren't they sending you a replacement cube? Did you tell them you preferred a refund over a replacement? Or have I misunderstood entirely?

sorry i kinda typed it in a hurry. they are going to refund me and send me a new cube. it's not really replacement since they didn't say i have to send in the defective one. and i meant 3 weeks as in another 3 weeks of waiting for the cube. sorry again =P

Well that's very nice that they are going to both refund your money and send you a new cube. That's above and beyond compensation for your time and trouble. Good deal.

I know... you'd still rather have that cube in your hands today. :)

It's good marketing if what they said is the case. The Title of this thread certainly isn't good for business. I've been happy with my Mefferts puzzles thus far. Perhaps this was an isolated problem, and the refund is a sign of good faith. :-)

Tim.

yes, i do hope things go well with the new cube, and i really did wish i had it in my hands right now. eastsheens should also be sold in america =P

well my free replacement cube came in today. wow, barely took any time at all! but sadly, it was a 4x4 instead of the 5x5 =(. i don't know why this happened. so much trouble going on in this situation. i hope i can recieve my 5x5 in any way now. it's been way too long..

Lol, sorry to hear the bad news, but that is kinda funny (not as funny as the jeans though :D ). I think I have almost been put off mefferts and cube4you by now...

haha yeah.. i was so excited..

and what do you mean by "I think I have almost been put off mefferts and cube4you by now..."

Well, from all the problems that have been occuring over this Christmas season, it seems that they aren't particularly organised. I will stick to my store bought cubes as much as possible^^
