Uh, hi everyone. New here, but anyway. I had a DIY for a couple months now, but recently it got a tiny bit stiffer, so I decided to wash it under water. I didn't think about it since it wasn't lubricated, but not it is so much worse and stiff. What it the problem? I thought that maybe it would be from the water, and so I let it dry out, but a couple days later and its still the same.
Does anyone know what to do?

well I would deffinatly lubricate it..
if that doesnt work, then I dont know what could..
maybe loosen the tension (screws) a bit more?

I dont hope you washed the whole cube as it is. as you know, there are metal screws, springs and spacers inside the center. maybe they could have rusted?

everybody knows this, but lubricate with spray silicon.

I would take it apart completely, and put it back together, adjust the tension of the screws, and then lube it with silicone. That should resolve your problem.

Alright, thanks A LOT for the suggestions guys. Readjusting the screws helped a lot, but it hasn't quite reached the same as it was a week ago.

As for lubrication, I wish I could avoid that, since I've had three 3x3x3 cubes now, and two of them that were not DIYs were lubed with this "Liquid Wrench: Silicon Spray" that smells like WD-40. And I'm not sure it works well. Do you guys have any suggestions about which lubricant is better and possibly a good place for it? I was recommended Shock Oil at Hobby Lobby, but I didn't find any time of lubricant there.

Thanks again!

I use silicone spray from Big-R. It is $3.49 for a can. It works great. If yours smells like WD-40, maybe it has extra chemicals in it that are bad for the cube, who knows. I'd recommend you buy a different type of silicone spray and try it out.
