all the recent talk about 4x4 piqued my interest and i'm back to messing around with my 4x4. I'd like to lube both my 4x4's and 5x5's, but i don't know where the breaking point is (eg any edge on the 3x3).

help...?

also, is there anything special about either 4x4 or 5x5? is it ok to lube these?

thanks

Well, for the 4x4x4 all you need to do is turn the top layer about 30 degrees clockwise and try to pop one of the half-edge pieces out. If you turn it 45 degrees, neither will come out easily. It should be fairly easy to see which of the two edge halves will come out, though.

On the 5x5x5, you need to rotate the top layer 45 degrees and pry up a middle center piece. Note that an entire edge-triplet will come out. Be careful though; the 5x5x5's are kind of tough to get back together until you've done it a few times. When reassembling the 5x5x5, you should put the pieces next to the corners back in after you put in the middle edge piece.

I hope that made sense. I can post some pictures if it will help.
