Hi, I have recently started practicing 4x4 & 5x5 again, I find my times are horrible if I use Petrus but I take off about 20 seconds with fridrich, I'm guessing this is because it takes less inspection to have a good fridrich solve. Also if I have OLL parity Good/Bad edges can take a while.

Do any of you use a different method when solving big cubes? I'd guess roux users would because M turns are pretty hard on big cubes.

I don't understand your question. The title of the thread implies that you're asking *Does anyone use a method other than reducing the cube to a 3x3x3*, but your post seems to ask if anyone uses a method different from Fridrich *after having reduced to a 3x3x3*.

Which are you interested in? For methods different from reducing to a 3x3x3 you can use K4, Cage method, blindfolded methods (though this would be horribly slow for speedsolve).

If you mean "do people use different 3x3x3 methods after completing the reduction step?" then I can't help you there, as I don't know. I think you'll get better responses to your question if you phrase it more clearly though.

Yes, I don't know what I was thinking in the title of the thread. I was trying to ask if people used a different method after reduction on big cubes than they did on 3x3.

Well, Fridrich doens't have to use that much inspection time. Roux, Petrus and ZZ take advantage of inspection time (like EG for 2x2 I think) but with redux there is no time for inspection after redux. Hope that helps.

Yes, that's why I use fridrich for 4x4 & above, do you use ZZ for big cubes?

Unless you have awesome look-ahead.

1. I don't do big cubes.
2. I'm trying to made a ZZ type 4x4 method.
3. I never plan on doing ZZ for big cubes.

True, but 15 seconds of look-ahead would be pretty hard.

During Big Cubes summer, Waffle used Roux on big cubes.

I have to CFOP on big cubes.
ZBLL + 4x4/6x6 = FAIL.
I once spent 5 minutes staring at my case trying to figure out the ZBLL case before realizing I had parity.

HAHA!! I almost died when I read that. Wow, parity for ZBLL.

That happens to me when I do Good/Bad edges, I either can't find the other flipped edge and get confused, or I jump to conclusions to quickly and have to do the parity fix twice.
