Dayan Coating and things along those lines.

Hello, I've been wanting to Dayan coat my GTS2M with an OP Dayan I have. I have done boron treating in the past so I might know some of the basics to coating cubes. I was watching some reviews of the Dayan coated GTS2M and I though about it a little bit. I'm maybe thinking that If I use a certain chemical like acetone and I dissolve the Dayan plastic in there, I can dip the GTS2 pieces in the solution, and then immediately put it in some water to stop the chemical reaction. Let me knew if I'm doing anything wrong. Thank you for your time.

Ok I think I’m getting somewhere. I am testing the Dayan coating and it seems to be working. What I did was melt down the Dayan plastic and added a chemical that allowed the plastic to bond to another piece. I successfully Dayan coated a cap of a marker!

I did it to some of the gts2m pieces. Waiting a day for it to dry.

I assembled a layer of the cube, and made some adjustments to the pieces to let them glide together properly. So far so good

Wow that looks disgusting. How does it help the cube?

Through break in time, the cube becomes smooth and feels similar to old Dayan plastic

I completed the cube! After a few hundred solves and some lube, it has become so smooth and flowy. In my opinion, it was worth it to sacrifice an old plastic Dayan for this project!

That's a GTS3 not a GTS2

Was everywhere Dayan Coated or just the internals? I can see some black spots though that’s a small price to pay.

I tried my best, and i know it’s sort of messy right now. I’ll try to figure out a better and more efficient way to do this in the future. But I’m happy with this cube for now.
