I have observed that many speedcubers play instruments. I know that @abunickabhi plays tabla (and hes great at it), and want to know if you play any instruments and which ones you play. Also is their any reason why cubing and music seem so correlated? Maybe the practice needed for mastery? I myself am intrested in music and have wanted to learn Pakhwaj or Mridangam for the longest of time, but I live in the USA so can't.

My main hypothesis is pattern recognition is the same thing here.

Secondly it is hand eye coordination.

Thirdly, it is a lonely endeavour spending time with your instrument.

You are awesome at tabla btw. Do you know pakwaj as well? As a mahrashtrian, a lot of my uncles play pakhwaj.

Yes, I can see that music is similar to cubing in a way. Maybe I should get my music friends into cubing.

Thanks a lot for your compliment.

Yes I have tried the pakhawaj.

My style of tabla playing is also open resonance and many of the phrases match with pakhawaj bols. Although I am seriously pursuing only tabla for the time being.

I am also deeply interested in Carnatic music and want to try konnokol, ghatam, kanjira and mridangam sometime!

I play bass in a band with my friends

edit: band as in rock band, not in the american 'highschool band' sense
