Hello guys,

Not sure if this is the right sub-forum, but I was just fooling around with my cube today, and I found some cool and speedy algorithms for interesting patterns

Pattern 1
Imagecube:
imagecube.php

Step 1, swap (UF UB) and (DL DR), using D M2 D2 M2 D
Step 2, flip 4 columns, using ((RUR'F')*3 U2 D2)*2

I thought the 4 column flip is pretty cool and easy with all those repeating moves.

Pattern 2
Imagecube:
imagecube.php

R'F'R y' [ RU'R'U' RUR'F' RUR'U' R'FR ] y R' F' R L F2 L'

The part between brackets is the pseudo-15-move-Y-perm that people use for solving the corners with Pochmann's BLD method.

Anyone else here who likes creating patterns?

my favorite pattern can't be done on a solved cube =( you have to do a 2cycle at one point (read: take 2 pieces out and replace them with each other's place)

nor do i know a shorthand for it because i didn't accidently come across it =p i thought it just would be cool to do, so i tried it

nevertheless.. here it is

create your standard cross (ill use white cross and standard color scheme)
then you'd fill in your c-e pairs, except this time, use the yellow corners rather than the white ones to pair up with the edge pieces. put in the pairs in such a way that the edge matches the color of one center, and is opposite of the other center

do*4

now solve the top layer orientation so you end up with a yellow cross and white corners. solve the corner permutation so they match the columns completely. swap 2 edges, and solve the edges so they match as well

this would be much nicer if the 2cycle wasn't required :(

I found this one when I did an H-perm wrong using my old alg:

R' L' U2 R L y R' L' U2 R L

That reminds me of another pattern:

R B L R' F R - E - R' F' R L' B' R'

Btw, this alg is 13 moves (counting E as 1 move)... Can anyone see how to do the SAME thing in 11? I'd be impressed :).

M2 U M2 U2 M2 U M2 z' E2 M E2 M' (11)

Does that work for you ;)

No, that is a different pattern than R B L R' F R - E - R' F' R L' B' R'. On yours, the colors on one face are opposite, while the colors on one face of my pattern are NOT opposite colors. :)

One of my favourites:

F R' F' R2 U' B' R B R2 U

That one is rather finger-trick friendly. How fast can you do it?

Perhaps it helps explain why I'm so slow at speedsolving 3x3x3 that I wasted time and memory cells learning this algorithm instead of learning something useful, like an OLL that I don't know. :)

Did you just mean R B M' U R - S - R' U' M B' R' ?

Try these, some are pretty nice!

6 crosses: B F2 U' L2 F U B' F D U' F' U' R2 F D' U2

centers swap: L R' F B' U' D L R'

little L shape: U B2 L D B' F L' D U' L' R F' D2 R'

Z shape: F B L R F B L R F B L R U2 D2

T shape: B2 D2 L R' D2 B2 L R'

my favourites:

Cube inside cube:
F L F U' R U F2 L2 U' L' B D' B' L2 U

Cube inside cube inside cube:
U' L' U' F' R2 B' R F U B2 U B' L U' F U R F'
