Colourblind solvers

I got around being color blind by making my own color scheme that I put on all of my cubes - works quite well for me (about to do it for megaminx). I was diagnosed several years ago when I went to the optometrist for something - I don't really find it all the inconvenient as I don't deal with colors on a regular basis, but I do hate when people find out and start asking you what colors things are.

Lol, I do wonder, for people who are color blind, what was it like growing up? Like when your parents or teachers were teaching you colors? Did you find out that you were color blind during this time, or did it happen later on? I've just been curious about this for a while.

From what I understand, you're usually not born colorblind, you generally start getting it when you're an adult. That's just what I've heard, so I might not be right.

That's definitely wrong in my case and for other colourblind people I know (I don't know many).

It felt pretty normal :)
My parents first noticed it when I was about 3 and wasn't sure about the colours of the chairs at kinder garden. They had a couple of different ones, I could tell they were different, but couldn't tell which was which. Then I noticed I sometimes got them confused e.g. I thought a dog cartoon in a book we had was green, etc.
Like one of the posters above, when someone finds out I'm colourblind they often start pointing at things and asking what colour they are. Unlike that poster, I don't hate it, but don't especially like it either. I just don't mind.
The only really bad experience, which I only had happen once, was in one camp. Someone was playing a game of naming clours and then finding things in the room that are that colour. Someone said yellow or green and I pointed at something that was the other colur. He got mad that I was wrong! That was still before I really knew being colurblind is.

Ah, that's interesting. But yeah, now that I think about it, I don't usually think about colors, unless I'm specifically meaning to. Like, I like to solve the orange layer of a cube last, so I'll do that, but yeah, I guess I don't think about it very much.

I'm red green colorblind, so the original v-cube stickers are terrible for me. I'm getting some cubesmith smooth tiles, and i think they're a bit better since the green is a darker green. I hate the v-cube green.

I'm sort of color blind, sometimes I mix up red and green(OMG CAR CRASH LOL), but when I cube it doesn't effect me for some reason

I am colourblind and I was originally a bit confused between the orange and yellow of my dayan zhanchi. That very rarely happens now.
However, I very often confuse the green and orange of moyu cubes, the colours look very similar :/
Having to consider buying some more stickers

I am having huge problems distinguishing between Yellow, Orange and Red and Red and Brown and somewhat yellow and green . I just took an online test and was said to have green color blindness.

EDIT : I am not colorblind. My monitor lost its color and I had to get a new one.

Well, then change the stickers on your cube to a more distinguishable color set.

Hi

I'm colourblind. I'm curious about other colourblind people playing the Rubik's cube. I'm only playing for a few days now and I have one cube (not so good, ordered a better one) but I found some problems because I'm colourblind. At least on my cube the yellow and orange can be difficult to tell apart, especially in certain light. Other than that, it can be significantly slow to recognize the colurs because colours just don't imediately jump at me like for people who are not. It's like a traffic light, I first look at the place (top, middle, bottom) of the light, not the colour.

So how is it for others?

i'm not colorblind but i do have color perception issues
i have problems with red and green
and yellow and orange
try getting fluro yellow with regular orange
i found that has good contrast and i think fluro orange and fluro yellow look too alike

that might not be good. sometimes bright yellow could look like bright orange right? prehaps a darker orange with a brighter yellow.
Correct! I'll get normal orange with a slightly pinkish red.Besides the only colors I have problems with are yellow, orange, red, green and brown
