i want to know why you want to know. haha.
unless you were actually terribly color blind and couldn't even separate shades of color, it seems like you'd be at a disadvantage.

I am very colourblind and i have no problems distinguishing regular colours. Changing to colourblind stickers will just mess up your recognition, i really dont see why you would want to do this.

If you absolutely MUST then do so after the competition

Define "very colourblind". Do you only see different shades of gray? How easily can you solve, say, a megaminx with 12 different shades?

I'm just slightly colorblind -- mostly red/green cause problems sometimes -- but I can't cube at all without good lightning using regular stickers. But using something like the CubeSmith stickers linked above (I'd choose different images, though), I don't have any problems even in quite dark. It certainly doesn't mess up my recognition (I don't see any reason why it should) it makes it easier.

-_- just because most people recognize by colour, it doesnt mean that shapes are necessarily slower. thats like saying that CLL/ELL is definately worse than OLL/ PLL because most people use the latter.

EDIT: sorry, i missed your point completely, my bad. i think grama alreadu uses the colourblind set and is better with it than colour set. so using the colourblind set would not be an issue..

Im fairly sure im a deutranope which (as far as i know) is pretty bad. If you pick a random colour i probably cant tell you which colour it is i.e. if the colour is blue then to me it could be purple or turquoise or sometimes green depending on the shade.

And i can solve the megaminx but i have to move pieces with similar colours next to each other to determine which is which and i make many mistakes.

Any changes from the regular colours/colour scheme on my cube messes up my recognition. I tried the colourblind stickers once and it took almost 3 times as long to solve! I should have said "it might mess up your recognition" because it obviously doesnt affect everyone in the same way.

@LukeMayn: i meant do it after the competition because i assume he is used to the regular colours so why risk worse times? They are competition legal. But 2 weeks is a long time he can always switch back i suppose.

Lastly, i didnt know the colourblind stickers were actually for colourblind people. I thought they were just for fun and it was just the name. Maybe they're for completely colourblind people, who only see shades of grey? i dunno

Edit: PeterNewton, thats not what i meant at all. I didnt say they were slower, im sure the shapes could be fast as well but he if he's already used to regular colours then why change?

How many solves did you try? It's understandable that it's slower at first, but if you stick to it, I'm fairly sure it would become easier than color stickers.

by what I understood (I was asked by one of the organizers of Santiago Open about this, since I'm the delegate for the competition), grama uses the colorblind stickers and wanted to know wheter they're competition legal

literally they're not, but I asked Ron and he told me that if grama brings a doctor attest or something, he can use them

this will probably be discussed in 2010 regulations

I tried 6 or 7 solves, all were roughly the same. I know that with practice it is possible to go faster but thats not my point. Im already used to regular colours and just got a very decent official average with regular colours so im going to stick with regular colours:D and im sorry but i dont see how recognising shapes gives an advantage from colours. Its preference i guess.

and my mistake about the legality of the stickers, sorry:o
