This average would place you 34th in the world if it was officiall

I will be attending a competition at the end of this month. It was a very last minite decision, but I'm free since it's the day before I begin my new job. The next comp I could do would likely be New England Championship. There is NO CLOCK, which is not ideal but also reduces some of the general stress of the day. I'll be competing in every event:

2x2, 3x3, 5x5, SQ-1, Megaminx, and Skewb.

So basically everything went terrible except for Megaminx, and I'll absolutely take that considering it's the event I cared most about. Got my official average down to 1:16.12 from 1:19.33, which means I kept my PR streak (20 comps)!

I also got to see the infamous @SkewbIsTheBestEvent, who is a genuinely gifted Megaminxist.

Great job on Megaminx! I’m glad you had fun meeting people!
Megaminxist.
No. This is wrong. Do not irritate me again with this abomination of spelling

NEW GOAL

So I really, REALLY like megaminx. It's the best (or at least my favorite) WCA event outside of clock, and it's by far the main "twisty" puzzle I care about. I currently average about 1:15 with a PB single of 1:00.xx and a PB average of 1:10.xx.

The funny thing about my situation is that I BARELY practice 3x3. The event just isn't very fun to me, and while I know this isn't very traditional, it's just a personal opinion within my own cubing experience. I've been told my times for 3x3 and megaminx don't really add up (as in my megaminx times are far better in contrast to 3x3, which I currently average ~17 ish in). I don't know if this is true or not since I can't really compare that well in my mind, but navigating the megaminx throughout solutions simply clicks with my brain better.

The goal: Sub-1 average on Megaminx.

I have learned a good handful of megaminx OLL algs in 4-look last layer, and I know a few edge permutation algs which are virtually identical on a 3x3. I'm certainly willing to learn more algs though. I solve corners on the last layer as one would in LBL, so that very well may be something to start changing.

Advice on efficiency in F2L would be extremely helpful. I solve on white first, and I've gotten better about quickly making a "cross". I aim for sub-30 (preferrably sub-25) on this step, but there are times I just lose track of pieces or find myself performing rather inefficient pair-building. Any other advice is greatly welcomed too!
