Clock and Other Things (Clock is Back)

How fast is your memo at the moment? Are you able to memo fully in 15 seconds of inspection?
Last time I timed inspection (hundreds of solves ago), I was around 18-20 seconds. I know for a fact my inspection is faster now, and I'll time that again soon. One of my requirements for switching officially is to get memo under 12 seconds.

Nice, my memo takes around 1-2 minutes at the moment.

Yet another sub-6 7-Simul average! So close to PB.

Aside from DNFs, I mostly get sub-6 singles now with 7-Simul. The rate of improvement is looking good, and I feel like my turning inaccuracies are at least moderately decreasing. My next goal is a sub-5.50 Ao5 and hopefully an Ao12 (if I can prevent DNFs). Inspection time is significantly better as well. I have not implemented pinky turning yet. That might be a next good step.

Is 7-Simul easy to learn? And how long did it take you?
The hardest part is getting used to an entirely new way of visualizing and operating the puzzle. Getting memorization down to a reasonable time without having to double check anything took around 700 solves for me. You start with DNFing almost every single solve, but your success rate gradually increases as you learn what exact steps you're messing up on. In short, it's a challenging method to learn which takes plenty of practice to get to reasonable times and success rates. I'm still not even at a success rate that I'm happy with, even with getting mostly sub-6 solves. I've been doing 7-Simul for around a month, so it's possible to get pretty good fast if you put in a lot of practice, but I've also been sub-6 on clock with flip for over a year. I also stopped practicing flip almost entirely during this time to switch my brain completely to 7-Simul.

Okay, but do you have tips for flip? I am getting into the 9 and 8s.

Learn to do D moves with your thumbs if you haven't already. Also, practice accuracy, even if that means you have to slow down your turning a bit so that you don't continuously correct yourself (and therefore waste time). Don't use the tape and magnet mod until you're a bit faster, too. Stick to a more stable clock to improve accuracy, then update hardware as you see fit for less controllable, faster turning if that's your preference.

Don't you mean pinky? That's what I've been forcing myself to do ever since I got my clock.
Pinky turns are used by the very advanced clock solvers--I don't do it, but it's something good to learn and I by no means discourage it. In fact, I would like to pick it up very soon for 7-Simul (I promise, @OreKehStrah).

Then how do you think @Davian is doing D turns other than thumbs or pinky??

Anither PB! Potential for an incredible average without the counting 5.83

I use my thumb to do D moves, Maybe once im sub 8 I will try to learn pinky.
For Flip, I’ve always considered pinky moves to be pretty pointless.
Honestly I can’t think of any top solvers (using Flip) who do pinky moves. I could be wrong though.
