Cleaning grime from Valk2 magnet areas

This is a long shot, but
Is there a way to clean out grime from the magnet areas of a Valk 2 edge magnets?
I don't think the edge piece areas can come apart. And it's very hard to buy a new version of this cube nowadays. I bought it used around 4 years ago and I should've just bought it new.

The gap is too small for those - I estimate 0.1-0.2 mm. I guess the central part is snapped in so it's not possible to remove and I don't want to do destructive testing.

maybe a little bit of soapy water and a q-tip might work. tooth brush might be ok aswell.

Today I found out after going through the edge pieces spaces with tweezers the caps actually come off, finally letting me clean the grime and corrosion! I had assumed the caps were snapped into place but they may be held in just by friction.

A lot of these things happen by chance. Also the magnets seem not to be glued down, but maybe it's just weak glue. The magnets smell like pennies and look like beneath the shiny silver they are copper colored. I guess this is a nickel-copper-nickel coating for neodymium magnets. Without the coating it will corrode which is what all the stuck black and patina corrosion is.

Use a watery toothpick, but do not touch the toothpick too near the magnets in order to prevent rusting.
