Hello everybody!

I'm from Italy, and I am an absolute beginner with the Cube, and I'd like to refresh my basic knowledge after many years.
This forum is REALLY big, and I don't know where to post my question (I'm sorry for that), so I write it here: moderators can place it where it has to be:

---------------------------------------------

Hi everybody.

In 1986 I was taught by a schoolmate how to solve Rubik's cube.
It was a pretty simple method, not fast (about 4/5 minutes) but reliable: it starts with the first layer, then the second and in the end the third.

A couple of years ago I received a cube as a gift for my birthday, and I tried to remember the way I used to solve it.

Altough I remembered how to do for the first two layers and the 4 corners (pieces with 3 colors) of the last one, I forgot how to proceed for the 4 last pieces (the 4 central edges, each one with 2 colors): the only thing I (think to) remember is that it should be a 8/16 moves sequences (it depends on how the pieces are), and that in some cases the sequence must be repeated twice.

I've been looking everywhere in order to find those moves, but whenever I find a "3-layer method", it operates differently: first the edges are placed in order, then the 4 corners (and the cube is done). In my case it was vice versa: I put in order the 4 corners then, WITHOUT CHANGING their position, I placed the last 4 edges correctly, and the cube was done.

Please, could somebody help me with that? Does anybody know that method?

A big thank, and a big CIAO from Italy!

Hello! Welcome to the forums! :)

The method you describe seems to be a beginner's/CFCE cross (the first part is beginner's method, the second is CFCE last layer (LL).

If you look for the algorithms (I believe there may be a set in the wiki or I you could check out algdb.net) they will show you how to solve.

You could also look for EOLL (orienting the edges in the last layer) then EPLL (permuting the edges of the last layer) in fact, that's probably the better option.

Anyway, I wish you luck in your cubing journey and have fun on the forums! :)

Hi Nvpendsey,

when I read your link, something clicked in my mind.... PERHAPS that's it..... I'm not 100% sure.... (many years are gone, and those moves seem are completely vanished in my memory...), but at least I think are pretty similar to what I'm looking for.....
If you or someone else has another ideas which are similar to the one you linked, please continue... any help is appreciated.

Thanks also to everyone who has helped me so far.

Ciao from Italy!

Thanks

I learnt how to solve the rubiks cube with the same method.I tried to search for any more info or algs related to CFCE but I couldn't find any.So as far as I know this is the only tutorial related to CFCE except for some Alg sheets (or whatever they are) made by Andy Klise.
Link to alg sheets (advanced) https://www.speedsolving.com/forum/...le-Rubik-s-Cube-Guides-(PDFs-for-2x2x2-5x5x5)

I now use CFOP.I wanted to continue with CFCE but I think that the method is not well developed or explored. It has a lot of potential though.
