Are you asking how we break in cubes? I generally just do a bunch of solves.

I do a few days of solving without adding any lube, then I disassemble the cube and wipe it out, and then put in my own lube.

If I've just bought a cube, I just solve it a bunch.
If I've just put lube in a 3x3 and it's too thick to be pleasant to use yet, I'll do 3(n(M2 U2) x2 n(M2 U2) x' z') where n~32.
On megaminx, I just hand-pochman-scramble it.
I don't really solve other puzzles, so I don't need to lube them often to know what I do.
