Best Lubricant?

I'm using Jig-a-loo right now and it works wonders. Made my cube instantly smooth with little or no breaking in. I'd recommend Jig-a-loo or CRC Silicone. They are the best.

How does the Rubik's/Puzzleproz lube in a syringe work?

everyone's like "ZOMG DON'T GET LUBE ON THE CORE!!! AAAHH YOU RETARD!!!"

soo...is their liquid lube some kind of exception?

Do not use any oil or petroleum based product

DO NOT USE pertrollium

yep. the cube wears out easily if you use petroleum jelly. also, you need to reapply every 2 weeks unlike silicon spray which you need to reapply every 3 months. try the 'cyclo' brand of silicone spray. it can be found at hardware stores.

In other words, it "eats" away your cube. When you look at the inside pieces of the cube when you put petroleum inside, you can see lttle plastic gunk that is from the pieces. Your cube will eventually break.

This includes for:
Petroleum Jelly
Vaseline
WD-40
Any oil or petroleum based product

I hear great things about Jigaloo but i use CRC myself and it works great and it's 3x cheaper! :P

does [vaseline] do something bad to your cube?

in a laboratory, petroleum dissolves plastic. in real life, i've never had a cube die from petroleum damage.

however, while it feels good at first, it seems to thicken / deteriorate over time.

I have... it was not good.

My storebought cube was great, lubricated with a petroleum based lubricant and suddenly the cube explodes and one part of the core broke off.

That was actually good for me, because my next cube was my first DIY.

Why not?

Petroleum products can degrade the plastic that your cube is made out of, which will shorten the life-span of your cube. Also, petroleum jelly is goopy and yucky, and it will dissolve the adhesive on your stickers.

I've been using cube lube, which is a silicone liquid. It's easy to apply (don't have to disassemble the cube or wait for it to dry), it's inexpensive, and it makes an amazing difference in how your cube spins. It goes on liquid, and then dries to leave a fine film of wax-like silicone on the moving parts of your cube. The problem is finding it. I used to buy it at www.cubelube.com, but I placed an order last month and the product still hasn’t arrived. Meanwhile, I’ve emailed them several times to find out if it’s a lost or delayed shipment and still haven’t gotten a response. I don’t know whether or not they’ve gone out of business, but I no longer see them as a viable source.

If anybody knows where to get a reasonable facsimile, I’d appreciate the tip.

cubelube has been down for quite a while and has not shipped any products or replied. I have started buying from puzzleproz

I just got some puzzleproz lube, and it seems to work ok but I'll stick with my Jig-a-loo. The puzzleproz has a lemon fresh scent, but the problem is that the stuff is pure liquid and will leak all out of the cube. It's a mess trying to use it.

i know right? and it makes me dizzy while i cube ;)

i hope i wasnt the only one who noticed when this thread was made :D

I use chap-stick on my cubes. It is pretty much the same thing as vaseline, but in a stick, so not nearly as messy. It might destroy my cubes, but if they do, I'll just buy new ones and better lube.
