You didn't specify which brand you are referring to. I believe the M series and the P series are both Eastsheen, but Eastsheen doesn't make a 3x3x3.
If you are referring to Eastsheen, Pablo is absolutely correct. The difference is entirely in packaging. The least expensive Eastsheen items (A series) come wrapped in plastic without a box. Then in increasing price increments, the E series comes in a plastic blister pack, the P series and the C series come in boxes, the M series come with stands, and the K series are DIY. That means that if you're willing to pay triple the price, they'll let you put it together yourself (no easy feat, lol). Regardless of which version you purchase, you will ultimately wind up with the same cube.
However... if you are referring to DIY kits, the letters refer to the different types of plastic that the cube is made out of. My understanding is that type a is a better quality plastic than type c, and both a & c are better than b. But I have not got a clue what constitutes "better" in terms of plastic.

Hmm, I happen to like mine enough to find it worth buying (as an extra cube). With a bit of practice, it could make an excellent time attack cube...

I have a new type a in the mail and I just ordered one of these pink cubes along with one of those 3 layer pyramid things. yay for Christmas money. Now I will have a regular cube a OH cube and then just a cube for back-up.

Haha I know I had money from Christmas and couldn't resist! I had to throw in the pyramix to make it ok tho lol. White and green are supposed to be the best diy's and this one just looks similar. I'm quite excited myself lol.
