Hi I just joined this site today, and I've done a fair share of looking through the threads on this website as well as links to some other great websites. Just a little info to let you know where I am in terms of solving:
I am in no way what-so-ever a speed cuber yet. About 3 weeks ago I learned how to solve the 3x3, with what I suppose is referred to as the beginner's method. I bought a 4x4 yesterday and learned how to do it (still got a few glitches to work out), and actually managed to solve a 5x5 out of curiosity
. anyway, I've never actually timed myself with the 3x3, but I imagine that my average time is probably around like 2 min or less.
The way I've been solving the 3x3 is with the most basic method, however I learned with keeping the original layer (the cross and corners, I use white) on top. My question is: In order to begin learning how to speed cube, that I flip the cube over and basically start over by learning all the new algorithms? All of the methods I've been looking at require you to flip the cube on the other side, which makes sense to me because it would be easier to see the pieces all over the cube. Still, it seems like I would have a lot of memorizing to do if I were to begin doing this, so I'm hoping someone has a suggestion. All input is greatly appreciated thanks
