i've put comps on hold for a bit, cricket season is back and I have a ton of games:

I had my first game of the year last Saturday, and it was part of a five-week, four game tournament. (under-15, so I'm playing two years under) If you do well in this tournament, you get selected for the SoCal-AZ team, which plays against other teams from around the US. I scored 23 and took two wickets, but it was 95 degrees so I'm happy with how I did

I have an under-13 game this weekend and then two more weekends of Under-15 games before a one-week break (there is a game, although I'll be busy) until my Memorial Day u-14 tournament! Super excited for that one because it won't be 100 fricking degrees

I also have another tournament in mid-June but I have a lot to do before that

I just realized that I haven't gone to a comp in two months and my next one is in two months.

I'm also doing finals for the next few weeks, and the last time I did a timed solve was on May 13th. For any event. Oops.

Finished the other three games for my SoCal-AZ Series in early May. Scored nine runs and took two wickets in three games. Bad.
Had Memorial Day Tournament (U-14) as well last week. Scored 40 runs at an average of 13 in four games (15, 12*, 1, and 12)

In the first game I scooped a beamer for six (it might have killed me if I didn't hit it) and then ran myself out in a very terrible miscommunication
Second game I went #5 and we lost 2-40 in eight overs but I came in with 38 balls left and 30 to win, managed to finish it off with an over to spare
Third game was overall trash
Fourth game was the final, scored 12 off 30 but got bowled to a very good yorker. Very mid series.

Oof, not good. Are you an all rounder or not? Because it seems like your bowling is better.

I'm a batting allrounder, although here in the US we don't play on proper pitches so it's very difficult to bat. I've played a few games on proper adult pitches and scored far better (39 runs in two games, average of 39) but the ones we play on at the youth level have like holes in them and random spikes of grass so the ball can realistically go anywhere.

They did build a cricket pitch near our academy two years ago, although I've only played there twice (0 and 21) and it's under renovation for the third time in six months

My bowling has gotten worse with time, as my progress has kind of stopped and the batsmen have improved, so in the Memorial Day tournament I only bowled two overs (second game, 2-0-15-0)

I’d suggest to not be an all rounder if feel like in the future they will become useless. We have seen in the IPL what has happened with the impact player but as long as you don’t play like hardik you’ll be a good player.

I've been working on my bowling a lot recently, although a lot of the things I have been working on are definitely not game-ready yet lol

My end goal is to be a batting allrounder who can bowl if needed to (sachin?)

If you do end up becoming Sachin, pretty please play for india so we can win our 3rd World Cup at the 2031 WC.

School’s over, now time to grind!

I’m getting the WRM V10 (2nd most expensive version because I’m not the biggest fan of MagLev).

My next comp is Westerns (in around a month) but I’ll be going to Nub Open next week anyway even though I’m not competing (I forgot to register lol)

My global is hovering around mid-10. Significantly worse than before, but I think that when I shake the rust off I’ll be fine.

I also haven’t uploaded in a few months, but I’m not sure if I’ll continue. I have a lot of far more important things to worry about and it’s not really my biggest hobby or anything.

After westerns, I have two comps already scheduled and hopefully I can organize another one later in the year or early next year.

I haven't really cubed in at least two months, so i'll do a few solves today. Have focused more on getting settled into school and stuff.

signed up for a competition in PA in Jan 2025 (Puzzles in Pottsville 2025)
i'm also unfortunately realizing that learning about enzymes is as boring as watching paint dry and also ridiculously hard

signed up for three competitions, none are in NJ but thankfully my proximity to PA is good enough to the point where i can go to Philly and Scranton for comps

Did a few ao12's over the past week-ish. Averaging roughly 10.5, but I get the odd sub-9 average. Not too shabby.

turns out they announced two comps on Jan 4 and Jan 18 (same days as the other 2 I was registered for) in upstate NY, so I will be attending those instead - signed up for Worlds too!

just finished my history, bio, math, english, and spanish midterms. everything except bio was absolutely lightwork. but bio was not. to say the least.

kids walked out of that classroom CRYING like we did not learn half of this stuff why is it on the test. it didn't help that we had a LOCKDOWN drill during the test (we didn't get any makeup time). i will be overjoyed for a 60. not even kidding.
