I'm back.

Bit of an update here. School has really gotten ahead of me, as I'm taking a ton of extra courses. I have been to some comps and broken some PRs, so I'll overview that. To those of you who care, read on. If you don't care, then okay.

I've been to four competitions since I last updated here.

At the first one (9/2), I broke my year-long 2x2 PR of 2.39. Twice. Round 1, 2.37 and Finals, 2.33. No other notable results there, and no podium unfortunately.

(9/30) I managed to win 2x2 with a 2.7x average and got podiums in Team-BLD (3rd) and Mystery Event (2nd). For context, this was an unofficial events comp.

(10/7) I finally broke through my hardest challenge to date - the sub-10 barrier. After being stuck at 10.11 for months, I finally got a lovely 9.57 average, which was brilliant.

(10/28) Further improved my 9.57 to a 9.46, and won Team-BLD. Very nice comp as well.

Now, addressing the elephant in the room. I've kinda been inactive.
To prove my point, there are people with 2.5x the posts and have been here for nine months, while I've been here for close to 4 years and had 1400. Holy crap I've been here a while.

I've been insanely inactive and I'm not sure what my plans are for this forum. I'll definitely still be somewhat active, I'm working on a project for YT so I'll check now and then for that. But I feel like the time I'm spending on the forum can be used for something more important, like studying. I definitely haven't enjoyed myself for the past three months (I've done 0 timed solves in the last month, and I have a comp in 36 hours. I've done un-timed fun solves, but no serious sit-down session). I'll check back on post on the forum now and then, and I'll definitely try and cube a little more. However, if you see that I'm posting less and less, it's probably because of this. If any of you feel like you're experiencing the same thing, then please let me know lol

I have a comp in 36 hours. I'm going to practice tomorrow, but I'm busy finishing homework right now lol. See you.. soon (don't hold me to this)
Okay, time to sum up a pretty terrible competition lol

3x3: Absolutely horrific, did not make finals.
4x4: What's wrong with me? It was so bad that I didn't even care to try and do my fifth solve.
5x5: The only event I did decently in. Nice average.
6x6: Not terrible, but still pretty bad.
7x7: By far the funniest. I had a 20 second pause during my yellow center, then popped and just decided to do the Sebastian Weyer timer stop and further explode my cube as I could not care less.
OH: Bad, but not terrible.

Overall, bad competition in terms of results, but I did judge all five solves of Max Park's 3x3 OH WR average of 8.62!

I have another competition with big cubes in three days. I'll do a little bit more practice...

Okay, I actually practiced the day before the comp! It helped, definitely.

3x3: Round 1 had THREE +2's, goes to show that I still have to work on that.
Round 2 was good! PR Single (7.89) and I had PR Average potential on the last solve but the scramble was bad and I messed it up.
Finals was mid. First 4 solves were bad, but the last solve was fast and smooth! I'll upload it, it felt a lot faster than an 8.59 lol

4x4: I didn't make finals. However, I got a 51 (PR) with DP, and nearly got a PR average, but I didn't turn very well on solves 3 and 4.

5x5: I didn't make finals, but the first round was good! Aside from a cube explosion on solve 2 (oops) and a minor pop on solve 4. PR Single on solve 5 though, and it makes me kinda want to practice big cubes again!

6x6: I made cutoff with a good first solve! Then popped on solve 2 and on solve 3, two center caps popped off during the solve, but I thought only one fell, so I didn't bother to pick one of them up. DNF, but it wouldn't have given me a PR mean because of my disastrous second solve haha

Pyraminx: the 6.25 was nice ig

managed to +2 the easiest scramble of the comp, and my non +2'ed time for that scramble was already pretty horrid for that scramble (4.84+2)

For some reason, I have another comp in five days! There IS 2x2, so I will practice a ton on Friday night. I'll post my goals in a spoiler so if you want to see it, go ahead!

3x3: Sub-7.89 Single OR Sub-9.44 Average (Essentially, any one of my 3x3 PRs. I'll be thrilled with both)
2x2: Sub-1.6 Single (PR if I can), consistent sub-2.5 averages (PR if I can)
5x5: Sub-1:40 Single, Sub-1:45 Average (I'll practice a ton)
Megaminx: Sub-1:40 Single, Sub-1:50 Average (I'll practice this too)
Squan: I don't care. Period.

Also, two days ago was @tetraaa 's birthday! Please go wish him a belated happy 15th!

Would like to mention that a Sub-worlds podium in 2x2 is possible at UCSD Winter too haha

I am doing it. The grind for sub-10 has officially begun.

Every day, I will create a new session and put all of my times that day in that session. Every day, I'll post the session here.

I want to get sub-10 by June.
Throwback!!

I ended up not sticking to the plan after two weeks but I got my sub-10 ao1000 at home in June and sub-10 comp ao5 on October 7th!

Okay, comp's over and time to recap.

First off, congrats to Max on his 5x5 WRs. I was judging Brendyn and we all got jumpscared by the 100 kids who started screaming and crowding the table. Thankfully, only two people were solving at the time. (I'm also pretty sure that this WR was louder than the 3.13)
The funny thing with Max's WRs is that he has a relatively minor celebration (the usual slight table slam, clap, and "yes!"). However, the main noise and celebration is the 100 kids (most of them started cubing this year, so Max intrigues them) screaming and clapping and crowding around. It's also absolutely silent while he's solving, which makes it very tense. example

Second, big congrats to @tetraaa . He managed to get a 6.28 3x3 single (not sub-mitch smh), PR by 1.26, and his first PR single in nearly 18 months!
He also got a ridiculous 0.81 2x2 single in finals (I'll talk about it later) so congrats to him!!

For context, I woke up late on the comp day because I went to bed pretty late so I already got off to a bad start. On top of that, I was assigned to run NINE GROUPS. I walked 7.5 miles yesterday. I came to the comp two minutes before my group started so I just quickly ran to get my cube and submit it, without warming up.

3x3 Round 1 (immediately after arriving): horrible, no sub-10 single
3x3 Round 2: decent mid-10 average, a very smooth 9 with an n-perm too lol

5x5 Round 1: horrid, counted a 2:29
Mega Round 1: i'm done at this point
Squan Round 1: didn't even do the last solve bc I DNFed solves 3 and 4

2x2 Round 1: actually decent until I got WPA sadly, the 1 was nice though!

2x2 Final, probably the most eventful round of the whole competition.
I expected to get 5th-6th place, but I didn't expect what was to happen next.

Solve 1: 2.73 (relatively average scramble, average solve haha)
Solve 2: 1.92 (solid solve ngl)
Solve 3: 1.41 (14 mover, very good turning and nearly PR, still PR2)
Solve 4: 2.31 (where it all went wrong)

About solve 4:

I was warming up to do the solve and Brendyn (Dunagan) was doing the same solve next to me. I was trying to look away (so I didn't see the scramble). I didn't know he started the solve, but all I heard was a chair slamming on the floor and "NOOOOOOO". I saw that he DNFed by not starting the timer, and he said that it would have been a 0.8.

I then began my inspection and started to panic because I couldn't find anything. I saw the SAME 9-mover, but I ended up overlooking it because I thought that the 2-move layer led to a different, worse case. With a few seconds of inspection left, I did a 5-move layer into a CLL. However, I panicked so much that I ended up doing OLL and PLL on 2x2 instead of the CLL.
This was also the scramble where @tetraaa got the 0.81 haha

28 moves in 2.31 seconds = 12.12 TPS
(the fact that a 2.31 had 12 TPS shows how bad my solution was)

Solve 5: 2.8x (one of them had to be bad)
I didn't actually know if it was PR or not, so I calculated it and it was 2.3233333, which rounds to 2.32 (PR by 0.01)

This was my only PR of the comp, and it happened on my last solve of the comp lol

anyway, it was a pretty mid comp except 2x2, and I'll upload the average soon. See you all soon!

I'm not dead!

Hi, everyone! I had finals week and high school placement tests essentially nonstop for the past two weeks. Haven't touched a cube in weeks, but since my final test was this morning (298 questions in 3 hours and 20 minutes), I'll do a quick session right now. Unfortunately wasn't able to attend THREE competitions that I was planning to attend this month (due to tests and family stuff).

Don't have any comps planned for the next month, unfortunately. My next comp is March 2nd, which is a comp that I'm organizing! If anyone's close to Aliso Vjejo and is free, register! There's 130 spots left!!

anyway, I'll probably update this soon (lol) and hopefully I'll be able to cube a lot more for the next few weeks. Bye!

Decided to show up to a SD comp and compete because I'm built different

4 rounds of 3x3 and 2 rounds of OH, but that was enough for me to go.
Relatively mediocre. 3x3 round 1 was the first time I touched a cube in 10 days, so I was rusty (as you can see), but I was able to do decently for the next three rounds. Finals had sub-10 potential but in true TLCubed fashion, I choked.

(jsyk 3x3 round 1 had 4 +2's)

OH Round 1 was a similar story to 3x3 round 1 (look at my amazing consistency) but OH round 2 was actually pretty decent. Will practice more and (hopefully) update this a few times before my next comp on March 3rd

The comp I organized in Aliso Vjejo is finished! Glad to bring more comps to OC :)

3x3 round 1: 9.86 average with counting 11 (+2 out of ~9.3)
3x3 round 2: cold hands, who knows tbh
3x3 finals: 9.57 average (tied PR2, nice)

2x2 round 1: cold hands, bad turning, bad scrams, idk
2x2 finals: the same tbh

4x4 round 1: I don't practice so who actually cares

OH round 1: pretty nice
OH finals: yeah no

3x3 was decent, no PRs, but it was fun! Next comp I'm organizing is in five weeks, also in OC 💪
