Any Band Cubers?

Just saw this thread now. This will be my 7th year playing clarinet in concert band and my 5th year playing tenor saxophone in jazz band. This summer, I was also one of the drum majors for our marching band.
I play 4 different instruments haha
But I don't really feel like being a drum major because (at least at my school) they are held to a WAY higher standard than we are, and sousas are held to a high standard already

Our marching band isn't too great, so being a drum major isn't very difficult. Some of our band's best marchers are actually in color guard. We're still expected to be a good leader and good musician, but it's generally agreed upon that if you're trying out for drum major, you're already a very good musician and a very good marcher.

The band I'm in is very tight-knit (category 1A), so if you join at the right time and behave well, along with a couple other things, you're basically on track to being a drum major. I personally love the idea of being one, and it sounds really fun being able to have a leadership role in a setting where people especially need a leader to succeed.

I play 4 instruments (if basic drum skills count as one lol).

Also, how do you guys learn sets (positions each marcher must go to, if that's not what you call them), and what do you guys score on average at competitions?

My band is a AA class band lol
we set "dots" (sets is what we call em usually) by using little sheets with all the spots and we will usually learn about 10/12 sets a week give or take a few
we average 82+ (82 at the first usually, we scored 93.6 at State last year)

same thing for us, we don't call them dots though, and we also learn around 10-11 sets a week
bro we scored 69 the first comp and and 85 at both regionals and states
that scoring is really impressive
