I've noted that some cubes have edge and corner caps on the outside like the F-II.

What if the edges and corners have little indentations and you can put your sticker in the indentations, and then you could put a transparent cap over the indentation, and stickers would no longer chip or become damaged. The cube itself isn't transparent, and is therefore competition legal.

Another example:

-Imagine a transparent cube.
-The stickers are on the interior of the cube.
-Fingers never come in contact with the sticker, but rather the plastic.
-Stickers last a long time.
-?????
-Profit.

Inb4 ideas are always shot down simply because people are argumentative.

I really like this idea, but you would have to cut down the plastic on the cube to make it the normal size.

By cutting down the plastic you are making the cube weaker, but it is still a good idea.

I understand it now.

How would the transparent caps stay on though? Just like normal F-II caps?

Or maybe the cap itself could be transparent, and put the stickers on the top side of the cap? But that might make the cube considered transparent.

The one thing I can think of is that how would we apply this to cubes already made that people like? We don't want to make a bad cube with good stickers.

The idea itself is ****ing brilliant. The drawbacks are pretty big though.

It would be a pain in the ass to mass manufacture, which would up the price. And if you wanted to change stickers, or plates or whatever you have underneat (if it would even be possible) you have to have stickers of the same size or less and me VERY precise when putting them in.

In theory though, I'd love stickers like that

3h)No modifications are allowed that enhance the basic concept of a puzzle. Some examples of enhancing the basic concept are: new moves are possible, normal moves are impossible, more pieces are visible, colours on the backside of the puzzle are visible, moves are done automatically, more or other solved states.
Is long as you can't see the colors on the back from the front, it should be okay, right?

LOL, why thank you mister Pochmann, it seems I wasn't original after all.

nothing is OC anymore....unfortunately, but all in all its a cool idea, but I'd rather just see the plastic itself colored so that you could not have to deal with stickers at all

I like chipped stickers.

Taken with my phone because no camera atm. Sigh

I dont use one cube for long enough to get chipped stickers :o i change to frequently but now i have found haiyan memory <3 i dont think i'll change anytime soon.

This is similar to the clear nail varnish idea. Where you just apply some over your stickers to stop them chipping. Or even better, if you care so much use tiles.
