my 5x5 has gotten too loose and pops even when im not solving it :P instead of getting a new one i saw on cubesmith.com that they sold seperate pieces. so then i was wonder if its each piece getting looser or is it the core getting looser. if its just the core, wouldn't a new core be the better solution?

when taking it apart i noticed that there were 2 centers that were millimeters longer than that of the other centers. these 2 centers were opposite of eachother. is this a clue? and i cant find any screws.

I imagine that it is the core, so you should try getting a new one.

Although I have heard that WinningMoves is making a better 5x5x5 and 4x4x4 for speedcubing and will have them out by this fall, so you could wait until then.

well the screws should be at the center piece just take of the top and they should be there (like the 3x3). if you play a lot with your cube the springs loosing the original structure. had the same with my 3x3 on the yellow site because it is my u layer and he gets moved a lot. i would try to tighten the centerpieces first and if that doesnt work buy a new one. i personal use a small east sheen cube and really like him runs very smooth right out of the box
