Okay, so I've done a bunch of research and besides finding some rumors of (vegetable?) oil based lubricants eat away at plastic, I haven't been able to find some facts. So I was wondering if oil based lubricants work for lubing cubes. I bought a can because it said that it was environmentally friendly. What are your thoughts and experiences? Thanks!

in my experience and conversation with Donovan ( the lubix guy), the best lubricant is lubix, and vege oil is great for cooking and is not a very good lube for cubes, lubix is slightly expensive, but is very good and can easily last 3 months in your main, and does not take much to lube a cube

good lubes

Lubix
High Viscosity Differential Oil
Shock Oil
CRC Silicon Spray
Jig-a-loo
Maru Lube
D39

none of those will EAT AWAY YOUR CUBES AAHHHH

I wouldn't use it if I were you. Dont use something just because its is environmentally friendly when it has the possibility of ruining a cube.

Get a tube of Shock Oil 20000 WT and use that.

I normally use generic brand silicone spray, works pretty good, but I believe it does eat away at certain types of plastic.

Also found a bottle of Meffert's lube in a drawer somewhere today and lubed my ZhanChi with it. The cube is much less noisy now, though it's not quite as slick as it is with silicone spray.
