Happy new year to yall!

this is the beginner EO again. I havn't post for a while since the more i learn the cube, the more I feel ignorant about it... It's much fruitable to read great discussions here from you guys than post my own unthoughtful primitive ideas...

however, sometimes I do feel I need some specific help. this post could also be seen as nothing but a simple story shared with you.

during the holiday, one of my younger cousin came over and was pulled into the CUBE swamp by me... :)

he was pretty quick on basic concept of the cube and able to put a few edges on position within minutes.

however, we've got only a half hour to spend, and I saw he was troubled with the "edge+corner" pairs (not even metioning the blocks...) as well as those long (7+) algorithms in later steps...

in desperate, I tried to explain the Fridrich 1, 2, 3, 4, ...with 4look LL; I tried Roux, CMLL, with L6E; I've had a moment want to show off the idea of ZZ... but gave up when I saw the big confusions in his eyes...

at last, barely before he's totally turned off, I found this "dummy method" to teach him. it looks working and less hassle than any other methods I've learned.

edge first.

12 edges are easy to composed out, intuitively. (the last cross might give him some trouble but he's able to figure it out)

then, for the 8 corners, only one thing needed: R'D'RD

it's as simple as a no brainer... and he made his first solve in a few minutes...

not sure if this is a real method(stupid?) or not, but here it is:

* Basically, R'D'RD flips the UFR/UDR corners.
* If keep doing it, it rotates all 6 possible positions(including orientations) of these 2 corners (so it can solve one of them, UFR here, in any cases...)
* It does mess up the edge pieces in bottom layer, but in every 3 runs, it restores them.

Based on this concept, we could solve the 8 corners by:
* 3 top layer corners
* restore middle layer edges (by putting the unsolved one on UFR)
* flip the cube and solve the rest corners

There are 1/3 chances that the last bottom corner (after flip) automatically solved by solving the last corner in top.

The other 2/3 chances, when middle layer edges are restored (which means we do R'D'RD in total of 3n times), the last 2 corners became the only unsolved pieces in the cube and they aligned vertically on UFR and UDR. Now turn the cube (z'), solve one of them, (U') then solve the other. all done.

PS: I didn't tell him that (D'R'DR), the reverse of that magic 4 turns move, could be used to save almost half of the total turns...

hey, i knew it... another rushing post...

what a valuable wiki here, after a further drill down, i found a page of "sexy method", which is basically the same thing.

thanks many for pointing it out!
