Way to go Ben. You provided the scramble and the solution. That's more than usual, so good for you for taking on the advice people gave you. Based on this, there is no reason to hate at all, you're right.

It's just your track record that unfortunately influences people when watching this. If you had only done this from the start you wouldn't have the comments people are posting. I would suggest just making an avg.5 video or something and why not just use the scrambles in CCT? It will save you the hassle of changing between cube explorer and CCT. It's much easier, then you can look back over your solves and see the scrambles you had for particular times. Very useful indeed.

Hey look at this awesome scramble that I got while using cube explorer even though I had CCT open already.

R L' U2 D2 R L' F2 B2 U' R' L U' D' R' D' R L' U2 D2 R L' F2 B2

solution:

U
R
DUMB

Nominated for best post of 2010.
Oh, and I just took a peek at the Bristol thread. Account revival hax?

Surely a more logical cross would've been y' F' R2 F'? Well, unless you looked ahead to see that you would have two 3 move F2L cases and a nice LL. You must have a different kind of lookahead compared to the rest of us.

I don't believe it. Dunno if that counts.

This could be a good reason to avoid making unofficial scramblers random-state. Random-state makes it really easy for people to fake this, while it's harder to fake a realistic CCT scramble.
It's still more worthwhile to go random-state for serious cubers, but cubing has some serious reputation issues from the wrong people representing it.

The way he reacted after the solve made it looks very, very suspicious.
What do you mean? To me he looks perplexed, exactly what I'd expect.
Are you seriously saying that you think this is real?

I see no good reason to believe it's not. Care to answer my question?
I mean it's not difficult to put the cube down and act as if you are amazed, especially with your face out of shot.

1: Ben has had a history of faked solves, which he has quickly removed from Youtube so suspicions are aroused immediately.

2: He averages 20 seconds, so a sub-9 solve is quite far out of his range, even for a really lucky solve.

3: He generated the scramble from CubeExplorer, yet he has CCT open. Why bother creating a scramble with CE, just to time in CCT?

omg why so suspious about the difference between average and PB??

I'm averaging about 17.xx but PB average of 12 is 13.92.. and fastest NON-lucky single is 9.65... and I have still got some 7's with scrambles that had really easy x-cross... but yeah... I don't get why he is blamed SO much for his inconsistentness... I'm like even worse.. I sometimes have averages with times like: 11, 14, 28, 12, 26, 13 etc... :P

Your right index finger showes that you knew that the OLL was going to start with an F move.

Please show us how you do R U R' (the last F2L pair) and not end up with the right hand in that position?

There you go:

There are a bunch of R U R' moves in it, for example at 0:45. My finger ended up on the cube like I usually do that. I don't know of the other cubers, that was one thing that seemed weird from the look of it.

Au contraire, mon ami. It can actually help to prove faking! I'm including CE scrambles in my timer using Herbert's Java package, but I don't do the extra work and mistake of reversing the found solution. So if someone naive uses CE to generate fake scrambles the obvious way and claims it came from my timer... well, how likely is it that a CE generator has the structure of a CE solve? I'd say even much much less likely than that a 25 moves CE generator was produced by current CCT. It might actually very well be impossible.

Code:
22:32:15 <+Kirjava> you know
22:32:20 <+Kirjava> it's fair enough he can post a video
22:32:21 <+Kirjava> but
22:32:23 <+Kirjava> if I was him
22:32:27 <+Kirjava> I wouldn't post that video

It's not really the inconsistency that is the issue. For me at least. I am the queen of inconsistency. I think it would just do him a favour to post a video in an average of 5 format or something so that people can see his cubing without flaming. People would be more inclined to say nice things if they could see he was having a more encouraging attitude towards speedsolving. He decided to post this lucky solve, there is no reason why he wouldn't, he provides the scramble and solution and that's great, that's exactly what anyone else would do. It's also refreshing that he says he isn't counting it as his PB as it's ridiculous, yet another improvement since the "my PB is 0.02 for 2x2" stage. He's getting better. It's just the fact that yet again it arouses suspicion about how legit it is, given that he bizarrely chooses to create a scramble in cube explorer (the functions of which we are aware of ) then time in CCT, which provides scrambles anyway.

He is fully aware of the reaction to his previous fast videos and yet still decided to post yet another questionable solve, rather than a more usual measure of his ability. Why don't you do that Ben? Seriously, it wouldn't half stop the hating.
