I got the moyu 6x6 and 7x7 for Christmas this year, thinking that they would be as good as their 3x3's. I don't mind the 7x7, but my 6x6 feels like every turn is a pop waiting to happen. I love solving the cubes, but should I invest in Shengshou 6x6 and 7x7 or just continue solving them, but never speedsolving them. I want to eventually start to speedsolve them, but I don't feel like I could ever speedsolve the 6x6 and 7x7. Help?

If you're not happy with your moyu cubes, it's likely a tensioning or lubrication issue. They're the best on the market right now, and you would only be more disappointed with a ss. I know my Aosu is really locky, but it's still better than my ss.

If you've never practiced big cubes before now, the cube will seem awful just because your turning style is suited to 3x3, and not to big cubes. The cube will seem too big for your hands, and you'll have trouble keeping the layers aligned. Lots and lots of practice will fix this for you.

Most people think the Shengshou 6x6 and 7x7 are slightly better than Moyu's, but the difference won't be huge. My Shengshou 6x6 is slow, catchy, and similar to your 6x6 in that every turn feels like a pop about to happen. 6x6s just suck.

Although the AoShi feels less stable in the center. I like it WAYYYY better than the SS. The SS feels more stable but when I get a pop, it is a center piece and it usually goes flying across the room. My AoShi pops are just the center pieces locking up together. It is very easy to force them back into place quickly and keep solving.

They need some more time to break in. Have you lubed and tensioned?

No I have not because I don't know how to lube big cubes. Do I take them apart or just get the pieces? Also, I recently watched SirWaffle's MO3 and her 6x6 is how fast I would want mine. SS or moyu. I don't care. Also, my 7x7 is pretty good. I don't mind eventually speedsolving it. I just want a good 6x6 that I am confident in. Whether that takes lubing or a cheap SS.

Whenever I turn the second outermost layer of my ShengShou 6x6 too fast, the edge would fly out. When I first got the 6x6, I did a Uw2 and about six pieces flew out...

Disassemble half the cube, top 3 layers, and wipe out the factory lube. (You can disassemble the whole puzzle but it's more time consuming.) Then solve it many times and it will eventually get better. I got the moyu 6x6 for christmas and it has gotten a lot better now after what I did.
