inb4 next WR with roux :D nice job!
Thanks!
That european record. Rawr.
;)

Nice solves! Very impressive! But I think 4th solve is +2?
No its fine

imo ZZ isn't a good enough method to be competitive...
Wait until ZZ finally proves its worthiness to us who doubt it.

Actually, my gut feeling agrees with you. R2L or L2R is ugly, though some deny it when I say so 2-gen basically wastes moves, EOLine is a restriction to the 'blockbuilding' which follows... Etc...

more work needs to be done for Roux by more enterprising people :P
I've experimented with variations I have come up with... But it's not worth the extra effort practising to speed and usable in so few cases.

I think the best way to improve Roux is to make many minor adjustments to that simple method that is already there. For example CMLL+EO influence extra algs, extra algs for EO+ULUR or non-MU faster LSE algs.

I don't know if it's just because I'm fast at it but I can't seem to find a better way to do LSE, nor CMLL, nor my way of doing CMLL+LSE. It is, to quote that good old goldilocks guy, just right.

Any attempts from me to improve SB+CMLL interfere with what has become quite an effective (lookahead-influence) system for CMLL+LSE. I don't like getting LSE straight up with no CMLL.

Maybe we could think up stuff for FB? But it's already a wonderful step. SB? FB+SB? Hm. Maybe some others could suggest stuff that I haven't mentioned or thought of...?

Just my $0.02, but imo ZZ isn't a good enough method to be competitive... EOLine is hard, restricted blockbuilding sucks, <R, U, L> isn't a particularly good movegroup to be restricted to, and the bad 'cases' are really bad under this restriction.

I detect a little OH potential in ZZ. However, I experience the exact kind of awkwardness you guys describe when I solve with both hands.

Anyway...I don't mean to jack this thread. Excellent solves + good luck in your future comps.

The first point I agree totally. By development I don't necessarily mean new 'steps' and 'methods', more just work on stream-lining piece choices in SB, and codifying cases and such.

The kind of stuff I've been researching and playing around with for CFOP recently is turning out to be really quite complex... I wish it was worth it for me to switch every day.

And yeah, the general strategy for LSE actually seems to be the way the vast majority of optimal solutions work (just with cancellations etc). I imagine that most advancements are intuitive anyway, but that's the main strength for Roux.

I detect a little OH potential in ZZ.

Totally, I'm only talking about top-tier 2h, for OH it's boss :)

Anyway yeah, sorry for jacking this thread, awesome avg 5bld <3

when that happens you'll start seeing everyone switching to roux

Lots of people already are.... For a few weeks then move back. Roux is a brilliant method, but only if you are an efficient block builder, it certainly isn't easy and mindless like Cfop. I never understand why there are not more fast Freefop users?

for the same reason as why there are not many fast roux users. it's not as easy to get used to.

It's a low movecount because I blockbuild

Yeah I'm kinda happy I've got so much to improve:
Blocks movecount
LSE movecount
CMLL... Um... Speed
Gentle turning
Overall turn speed
Look ahead (I think turn speed is becoming more of a problem; my look ahead is pretty good now)

My solves are still quite imperfect- this gives me hope :)

I just wanted to know if roux keeps the low movecount when counted in HTM, but i guess it gets astronomical numbers then :P

I cant really decide whether to use Petrus, ZZ or Roux, theyre all beautiful....
for now, since i started out with cfop, blockbuilding is a pain for me, so i combine zz with roux as follows eo- two blocks - cmll - lse

this gets me easy blockbuilding, high tps in teh first step and it cuts out the orientation of LSE. i guess it has a few more moves than normal roux, but its easy for people who arent used to blockbuilding. It also gives you a greater chance for various skips.

In the end i think it comes down to what your good at, not the method itself (except for, like, HTA :P) and a higher movecount can be balanced out by ergonimcs to make higher tps possible.
