Hi all,
Couple of weeks ago I started to solve 4x4 edges using 32223 method.
So, if I see that edge that I need isn't in the U layer, I do x move and search it in D layer(which now is in F). That's very convenient because I always insert edge I found in the same position. But I have not good lookahead in D layer using such method.
I see that many people do z2 and their D layer becomes U and it is providing great lookahead, but when you do this you need to insert in other position, etc., and that a bit confusing me.
I tried to use z2, but it's slower then using x.
So, my question is:
If I'll REALLY practice z2 instead will it be faster then x I'm using now?
And, if you use 32223, can you give maybe some tips on z2?

P.S. Sorry if my english is bad ;)

Doing z2 for me is very confusing because the E-slice edge chain is going in a different direction. I'd recommend doing x rather than z2 (this is what giovanni contardi does...i think). Try practicing both separately and see which one feels better in the long run. I don't really think one is better than the other, it is all down to personal preference.

I do x instead of z2, but I only use x when solving the first 3 edges, after that I do z2. I've found doing z2 for the first 3 edges very confusing but for some reason I dont get confused after the first 3 edges. Weird. This may work for you too.

Sorry in advance for not actually answering the question asked! But I had great problems with pairing lookahead.

This was one of the reasons for me switching to Yau method. Because you do 2 centres, 3 cross edges, remaining 4 centres, remaining cross edge when you come to pair last 8 edges the cross is already solved so all edges are in F2L and U.

If you are looking for easier edge pairing lookahead you could do a whole lot worse than checking out Yau.
