Hi, Its been 4 months since I first solved the Rubik's cube, and as of the time this is posted, my average solve is 35 seconds. I just gotta know, How long did anyone here take to get a very low time? preferably sub 20. I gotta know how much practice does it take to get such great times, because I heard you can sub 20 with beginners method, but Im using CFOP (not full cfop yet tho). And does it take alot of practice everyday? Ive been cubing everyday for weeks now and my average is very slowly decreasing (from 40s). So I gotta know how long does it take to get low times?

About 10000 solves should get you to sub 20. It sounds like a lot, but it's really not that many. The more you practice, the better you get. It's also worth knowing that the more you specifically focus on improving your weaknesses, the more effective your practice becomes.

People will say they took 6 months to get to sub 20, others will say it took 2 years. What it really comes down to is whether they're putting in five hours a day or practice or 30 minutes a day, and how focused they are in those sessions. I took about 20 months to get my first sub 20 average of 100, putting in about half an hour to an hour a day on average.

Yes, you can get to sub-20 with LBL, but it just takes a lot longer. You can also get sub 20 using 3 looks for last layer, but again, it takes longer.

I took me about 5 years to get sub 20. Max Park was it after a few weeks. So it really depends.
There are some polls about how long it took you to get sub x. There you can get an idea.

Here's a breakdown for me:
Sub-20: ~2 years
Sub-15: ~1.5 more years
Sub-12: ~1.5 more years

For reference, right now I'm averaging around 10-11 seconds. But, I actively practice the other 17 events as well. With dedicated focus on 3x3 alone, I probably could've reached those barriers much quicker, but I also would've been much more likely to get bored of cubing in that time. There's a lot more to cubing than just 3x3. I recommend you try out everything else too and see what sticks. At the very least, the other events are good distractions from the main event. :)

Here's an interesting graph of a snapshot of my progression:

Almost an exponential decay graph. Each dot is roughly a day's average. During this time I was transitioning from using "Pogobat" Beginger LBL to 2LOLL and 2LPLL (4LL)
It is worth mentioning that I would have been using a Dayan GuHong, lubed first with CRC. Now we have "better" (not saying the GuHong is "bad") cubes and lubricants that I think can propel one along.

If you're at 35 seconds after only 4 months then you're doing great. I've only been cubing for about 2 months and I'm still solving around 1 minute 10 to 1 minute 20 (my F2L is really slow ).

I've been cubing for about a year and a couple of months and I'm averaging 23-25 seconds. I'm learning full pll right now( only have g-perms left) and soon I will probably average under 20. When u was slower I put the cube down a couple of times for a couple of weeks and a time, and then picked it up and somehow averaged 5 seconds faster. Idk how long it would take you, but with dedicated practice you could average under 20 in under a year I'd bet.
