What's the difference between 3LLL and 4LLL? Which is faster? Which is easier to learn?

I'm currently doing a beginners method for OLL... FURU'RF' and then orient the corners.

My PLL is a corner swapper - RFR'B2RF'R'B2 and then some edge cyclers...

My other question is, which should I learn first, OLLs or PLLs?

Learn the 7 OLL's wehre the edges are already orientated and learn PLL's at the same time...

Yes, that's the most important, I think, too. I first learnt full 4Look Last Layer, that is:

3 algs for the three cases "orientation of the LL edges"
7 algs for the seven cases "orientation of the LL corners"
2 algs for the 2 cases "permutation of the LL corners" (in fact there are 3, but
you really need only two for a real 4 Look LL)
4 algs for the 4 cases "permutation of the LL edges"

For a 3 Look Last Layer you would also do the orientation in two steps as for 4LLL, but the permutation would be only one single step. You have to learn 21 PLL cases. (If you can do 4LLL, then you already know 6 of them).

I think you can switch at once to 3LLL (31 algs). Only if you always want to learn the minimum, like me, you want to learn 4LLL (16 algs) first. But after that, anyway you want to get faster and, therefore have to take the next step.

Question: what are the:
3 algs for the three cases "orientation of the LL edges"
7 algs for the seven cases "orientation of the LL corners"

that you are refering to?

3 algs for the three cases "orientation of the LL edges":
F U R U' R' F'
F R U R' U' F'
M U R U R' U' M2 U R U' r'

7 algs for the seven cases "orientation of the LL corners""

The 3 cases are....
2 adjacent edges oriented
2 opposite edges oriented
no edges oriented

Then when u have all the edges you just have to orient the corners... which there are 7 cases.

If two adjacent edges are oriented correctly put them at UL and UB and do F U R U' R' F'. If two opposite edges are oriented correctly put them at UR and UL then do F R U R' U' F'. If no edges are correctly oriented, do M U R U R' U' M2 U R U' r' (although I think F R U R' U' F' f R U R' U' f' is more common).

M isnt necessary... as for the F's, just practice... i cant find the topic but someone posted a video of how they do FRUR'U'F' and the other one.... pretty easy.

The two for orienting when two edges are correct are the fastest algs. Try starting the algs with your thumb on the bottom of the DR edge and your middle finger on the top of the UR edge. You can then do with your right index, do the R and U moves, and do F' with your thumb (this works better for F R U R' U' F' but should work for both). I am not sure how fast that alg for orienting all edges is, but you can just do a combination of the first two algorithms.

Edit: Ahhh that is the second time in a row Todd has posted right while I was typing mine!

Yes.

IF you have no edges orientated you can do either alg (the one for edges opposite or adjacent) and you then end up with the opposite case so you can do that..
