2x2 time won't go down

Hi, I'm new to the speedsolving forums, and I came to ask how to get faster at the 2x2?
I average about 8 seconds and I see people getting 1-2 second ao5s.

The method I use is:
1) solving 1st layer permuted
2) oll and pll

any tips? thanks

I assume you mean 1st layer permuted?
If you're just doing layer by layer, you can switch to Ortega (or Varasano). You can easily get 4-5 seconds with Ortega.

2x2 has a lot to do with TPS and practice. (as well as knowing more advanced methods) So my best advice would be to learn ortega, drill your algs, build more efficient layers/faces, and most importantly, practice.

Before thinking about CLL or EG-1. Learn Ortega and just practice.

Make sure you're solving multiple pieces at once when making faces.

I Would easily agree with tx789, learn Ortega, however learn from a video, not alg sheets.

Or you could just learn CLL, you're making layers anyway.

5 tips:
1) Learn Ortega/varasano
2) Learn CLL
3) Be fully CN
4) learn any weird tricks that might help like NMLL or R2 F2 R2 EG-2
5) Learn to one-look or at least predict what cases you may get.

Then decide if you want to get serious and come back then.
