I'm just starting to learn the ortega method for the 2x2, using erik's page here: http://erikku.er.funpic.org/rubik/2x2_ortega.html

I spent a few minutes trying to memorize the first algorithm before it hit me--I already know that algorithm from the 3x3!

So I was basically wondering, which of the ortega algorithms are the same as normal 3x3 OLLs and PLLs? Perhaps all of them? Knowing which ones are similar would help me greatly with memorization.

First of all sorry for waking up this old thread. But I have an Ortega 2 X 2 question.

I have my B face all red solved (OLL only) and have a green bar facing me, on U face I have all orange but no bars or anything. What can I do? I normally solve this by doing just R2 U R2 y' U2 R2 U R2. This leaves me with a solved B or U face (PLL wise) and I can do the Face that is left with R U2 R' U' R U2 L' U R' U' L. Is there a faster way?

Never mind, I just found the answer on Eriks page. L D' L F2 L' D L'
