After watching speedcubers on youtube and realizing that this may actually be achievable by myself ^_^, I went ahead and placed an order for 2 cubes. One for the ladyfriend and I. Can't wait to get them. :tu

Just a question ... intuition tells me 2x2 are easier, is that true? Should I just go ahead and buy a 2x2 just for fun? Or should I focus on 3x3 first?

Any insight would be appreciated.

(ps. I am a newbie, but a bit of a gearhead by nature ... I do apologize)

Once you get them and need a solution you can look in the wiki at [wiki]2x2x2 Beginner Methods[/wiki] and [wiki]2x2x2 Speedsolving Methods[/wiki].

People often go 'hahahaha' when you show them your 2x2x2, aspecially if you show them the 7x7x7 first. But if you have no clue about how to solve the cube, then it is not much easier than the 3x3x3, you will need help, or you have to do a lot of really hard thinking.

Not to mention that there are tons less algs for 2x2, if you want to go pro. And this is somewhat speculative, but since there are less, it would be easier to go pro in a shorter amount of time, more time to practice and whatnot.

It entirely depends on what kind of method you're going to use. Ortega has only twelve, whereas EG has 128.
