It's not as easy, because blindfold is pretty tight, and it'll be faster with two hands. And I think it looks more... official, maybe, to me, when cube is put at the table before pulling blindfold.

There is no known execution method that is more efficient that BH. BH does optimal 3 cycles. However, 3style is faster than BH by definition, because rather than move-optimal commutators, speed-optimal commutators are used, which in most cases are also move-optimal. 3style is a variation of BH, basically.

On a side note, would people consider it unfair to do "2x2 blindfolded" using a 3x3 instead of a 2x2?

It is WitTwo (Lubix, I guess), and the method is full EG, therefore there are lots of "+2". But his prediction of the last layer with small time is amazing.
