2x2 BLD?

2x2 BLD WCA event?

The bump war is over. And I'd like to ask why everyone seems concerned when a new event is proposed that "no one new will get records". That seems like the main argument against something like kilominx, just that it's bad because Juan Pablo would get a record(I know that kilominx is different then mega, just an example). If you cube for records, you might as well quit now
The issue isn't just records—it's that the limit of the event would be reached practically instantly (unless someone finds a new 2x2 method that's significantly faster than what top solvers use now, without relying on inspection, which I feel is very unlikely).

I guess that's true for something like 2BLD, but for other events(like kilominx), there will still be optimizations and possibly faster methods created

Honestly the only difference between 2mbld and 3mbld is doing just corners instead of edges. Doing a 20 cube 3bld attempt has as many letters to memo (assuming all peices are out of place) as a 50 cube 2bld. Both have 400 letters to memo so aside from having more rooms there is no difference. Its also just annoying to scramble as said before.

I think it would take roughly the same amount of time, because 3BLD takes longer to scramble and solve, but has less cubes per attempts, and 2x2 takes less to scramble and solve, but larger attempts. This cancels out.

That's fair. Depending on the scramblers that could possibly level out. Still though, there is not enough new added to the table, and 3mbld can be as hard or easy as you want. If we added 2mbld the only reason people would do it instead of mbld is to improve kinch ranks. It's an interesting concept for sure, but does not have enough warrents to be added instead of things like kilominx and redicube. (or maybe even 15puzzle @ProStar )

Not trying to sling some dirt, just recognizing a semi-stupid argument. No offense ProStar, but I think that convo went a little longer than it should have.
Yeah I just saw the opportunity and couldn't resist. I guess we all have are opinions. I personally would like to see it added, but that's not going to happen any time soon.
