2014 Cubing Idea

Ok so in baseball you have teams football basketball and even wrestling.
So why not cubing?
So i know noahaha created a fantasy cubing idea thread but i want to create something

So for example you can make a team. BUT you cant put people who did not agree. So here is how its done private message me or email me at [email protected].

Teams must have 5 members.
So set up your team and you will be added to the brakets. To join email or even post on this thread you team members and wca id. There will be 2 seasons per year first 6 months and second 6 months. To get points a member in your team must get a podium. OR points are achived on if a WCA pb is made, set a wca Record or top 3 podium in a record type, the final way is will have a WCAT 2014 weekly competition in which a team picks a member to compete in tthe event if they get 1st 2nd or 3rd you will get points. Leaderboards, stats wil be updated weeky. I will make a google docs posting the points.

That seems like a lot of trouble to go through in order to create a team.

Also, why would people from the same area want to be on the same team? They can only take points away from each other.

This seems very USA-centric. What if you live elsewhere. New Zealand hasn't got states nor most countries. There are regions however. In New Zealand there's the Wellington region(as well as Wellington city), northland, Canterbury, Manawatu, Waikato for example. But people refer to cities rather than the reigon more.

I like the idea of teams.. But the OP has not sold it at all. Needs to be better thought out and have a more solid structure.

Maybe Noah could work with the OP to make this work?

You could have teams of 5 people, sure. Then just run a league table and each member can earn points for their team through podiums.

This wouldn't work out if a certain team was just comprised of bad cubers.
We're all spread a bit far apart, if you haven't noticed.

I have quite a lot on my plate unfortunately.

I agree that it could be good with a better system in place, but right now it doesn't seem well thought-out.

Haha very funny, but sadly i cant. Mr.Judge me 4/5 times at UIUC.

Err.. that's the point of a league table..

Some football teams are made up of a bunch of crappy football players.. They may be bottom of the league but it doesn't mean they cant still be a team :s

The OP is extremely unclear about what gets you points and how many points you get for each thing.
