Looking for a robot only to practice specific algs (I want to tell the robot what to scramble). And looking for some tips please. A. Did Gan get the specified scrambles to finally work in the app? B. Does the new Gan ARTHUR robot offer any advantages for me over the older Gan Robot(s)? Thanks.

Don't underestimate the silence of a properly cleaned, tensioned, and lubed cube.

I like the idea of a scrambling robot. Reduced stress on the hands from manual scrambles and mindless scrambling. I think the Gan Robot can do random scrambles...at least Gan promised that feature a few years ago. I thought there were some open source programs for random solving too.

I would like robot cube scramblers...but that would be a different thread!

The new MoYu Cube Robot has built in scanning. Has anyone tired this? Impressions? The robot can be used with several MoYu cubes via revised center caps. Inserting the cube seems a bit cumbersome. Can this: - be networked? - do specified scrabmles for alg training?

The search is a disaster. Basically no results on a Windows 10 machine for months. Then by luck, I stumbled on the "XF Search". This is a great historical resource. It is fun to just search around different topics and opinions. Where else can one do that? I think the traffic would rise...

The iPhone 7 still is supported by Apple. But with older equipment, there could be compatibility issues or bugs between the iPhone7 and GAN's newer bluetooth hardware. Also, iPhone radios might differ between China and the West, so every iPhone iteration was not tested. In general, I've seen so...

Thanks guys. I didn't realise that 3rd parties have developed enhanced Robot software. That is fantastic!

Do cubing.js & rsimp.io enable the "Algorithm practising" that the Gan Robot promised years ago? To be clear, could one practice any alg 20x, with the robot resetting the cube each time?

Correct. Years ago, GAN noted Algorithm practising as a "future software update". So users could drill a specific step over and over again and not have to reset the cube manually every time. For me, this was THE BEST feature of the Robot system. Will revolutionise cubing for the average user...

Is Algorithm practising with the robot working now? Would it be a 2022 possible upgrade? New UI looks awesome.

Firmware updates always pose a small chance of bricking. There are steps to reduce the possibility of bricking such as having a well-powered cube & phone and turning off the phone's main radio and home networking so there can be no interruptions.

We are on 2 years of development of this awesome function. Any updates?

That would be a big project but there may be some academic interest in seeing how algs have evolved over time. Particularly as computer processing power improved and the popularity of the cube ebbed and flowed. For older algs, one could source published books from say 1975 forward; the auction...

Anyone can read these excellent articles in any language with google translate. Just copy the link above, paste it into google, hit enter, select "translate this page" and you have access to the entire site in your language. I read your excellent June 12 article on the Gan robot. It is...

I suppose you could try warranty exchange via the retailer or Gan. Without seeing the cube, my first guesses for research repair would be: 1. Software glitch --> Does Gan have firmware updates you can send to the cube? 2. Hardware --> Maybe bad battery contact or defective battery ** Is the...

That is what I envision Algorithm practising to be. Cuber can select certain algs to drill for the day. Only the robot could do this and I think it would be a great way to accelerate learning for intermediates. Well, I could buy say 16 cubes, self scramble them in the morning, solve them...

To clarify, today I want to practice only 8 specific algs (which I pick in the morning). So I would like to tell the robot to just keep testing only those 8 algs today, and randomly scramble just those 8 algs today.

Thank you @pppatty . This would be a good feature. e.g. One could choose 8 different algs to drill today. And the app would randomly display 1/8 each scramble. Better yet, use some SRS (spaced repetition system) with the robot.

Thanks @pppatty . How does one communicate a specific algorithm to the robot? Can one upload a scramble and drill it say 10x? Can one upload say 5 scrambles and drill just those all day? Is there documentation or a video on this?
