Megaminx fingertricks

I have just received a Mefferts megaminx. The first thing I noticed about it is that it's MUCH smaller than it looked like on the picture, and that all the fingertricks I use for the cubes are pretty much useless here. So, does anyone know a site where I can find fingertricks for the minx (and maybe other non-cube puzzles)? I feel like a total beginner, doing just wrist turns :S

Fingertricks rather than wrist turns? For the megaminx? Heresy!

Seriously, I'd say I rarely use finger tricks for the megaminx. Then again, I'm not fast anymore. Probably I'll have to change my style to compete with today's top megaminxers. But I guess it'll be similar to 3x3 fingertricks.

I have a unique style of fingertricks that allowed me to get over 6tps the first day on an unlubed, not broken in, chinaminx. (over 8tps after sanding and lubing.)
I basically just hold it like a video game controller and trigger using thumb and index like crazy. This technique is only effective for 2gen. I try to solve it mainly 2gen, especially 2gLL. Otherwise, I turn it like everyone else.

i usually solve mine with it sitting on the table like Dan Cohen solved his pyraminx crystal on youtube

I do the same once I get to my last f2l.

Are you allowed to do that for an official solve?

The short answer is yes. And the long answer is RTFM: A5b ;)
A5b is not that clear. It only says that you're allowed to use the surface, but not how. It's necessarily needed for dropping the cube onto (and picking up from), but it doesn't explicitly say anything about using it to solve.
(We should probably bring this up for regs '09)

would that mean that it would no longer be allowed, or would it just clarify to say that it is allowed? hopefully the latter, my megaminx LL is a lot of RUL, which is waaay faster with the minx on the table. Also, a decent percentage of people do the last flips of Magic solves with the Magic on the table.
