Progress is faster on 2x2 and 4x4?

There are better cubes, tutorials and algs now, so it's becoming more and more common for people to progress very quickly.
Not this quickly though.

Honestly, I could buy the 3x3 at 17 in 3 months, but the 2x2 and 4x4 improvement at the same time is what makes it very unlikely to me. I think he's either completely lying, or maybe calling his PBs his average as a mistake or to sound impressive.

that type of improvement seems insanely good but is definitely possible. A lot of people get to sub 15 in around 6 months so i'm wondering how long that took him.

Honestly, I'm calling troll. Just saying, 2 months on 4x4 and he's averaging 45, that's pretty crazy. Isn't sub 1 supposed to be equivalent to sub 20? Also, learning full CLL in 2 months is definitely doable, but I can't really say that for a completely new cuber. Maybe he's just using really bad hand scrambles or something, or scrambling just the outer layers of his 4x4. I don't know.

Another request for a video here. The 3x3 average sounds doable, and learning cll isn't that hard. But 45 seconds on the 4x4 after 2 months of owning one? I truly want to believe that this legitimate, but for now I remain skeptical.

Yeah, his 3x3 speed (E: and 2x2 if you compare it to his 3x3 times) is easily possible. But I've been cubing 17 months and my PB isn't even 45 seconds. I cannot see anybody getting 45 second times after two months of 4x4.

Is it recommended to get cubes other than 3x3 as soon as possible? Because I'm having a hard time persuading my parents to get me a 2x2 and 4x4 and Pyraminx/Megaminx.

People DO progress faster than faz you realize..
Thats true. But Faz averaged around 4 seconds on the 2x2 and 48 on the 4x4 in his first competition. After year of cubing. This guy is either super fast or a prodigy or something like that.

I'd say yes for 2x2, and by your speed you should probably start thinking about buying a 4x4. Mega looks hard but is really just a big 3x3, although I'd wait until sub-30 or when you're comfortable with F2L and building small blocks.

Just like to say I started cubing again about 3 months ago and I averaged like 35 seconds and now I average like 18 and my pb's are insanely fast (for me anyway).
I think what he's saying is totally possible, I think some people learn faster than others, for example I learned full OLL in about 10 days...
CLL is difficult to learn but I do think that proof would definitely clear up many people's doubts though (especially the 4x4 cause that seems extremely unlikely)
PLEASE POST A VIDEO xD

I agree with pretty much everything that's been said here so far. The 2x2 and 3x3 averages seem totally possible but the 4x4 average, not so much.

Well whether he can average that or not, i seriously doubt that he did it in 3 months of 3x3, and 2 months of 4x4 and 2x2. He can't prove it either way.

That's true we could never prove how long he's actually been cubing but he could still prove that he actually averages 45 seconds on 4x4 with a video.

As an extreme example, if someone gets sub-10 on 3x3 before ever solving a 4x4, they could be sub-40 on 4x4 within a few days.

Way to make me feel really dumb, Daniel haha. Actually, I'm gonna put this to the test. I learnt Yau recently, but haven't practiced it. Sometime soon, I'm gonna spend a couple of days doing nothing but 4x4 for hours on end and see how much I improve.

Guys, I can't really prove what I did is real or not cuz people will always find flaws. All I can do i assure you that im telling the truth and if you cant respect that... well... sometimes what you can't do isn't always what no one can do... rather than advice what i've really gotten is criticism. Anyway thanks for those of you that helped :) I learnt full oll and now im sub 15 and trying to get faster on the 4x4. I've kept the 2x2 aside for a while

I congratulate you on your positive attitude. :tu

Sometimes it seems like this community is to critical and end up running beginners off.

Dude, whenever you are new to a community, you will get criticism. Just take the criticism in a constructive way and move along with your cubing journey :D
I kind of believe you because if someone sits many hours practising on a good enough schedule, then it is doable :)
Congrats on Sub-15 :D How many months did it take?

nobody really "critizises" him, its just that the progression doesnt make any sence. there is no way that you average 45 after 2 month on the 4x4. NO WAY he can tell whatever the hell he wants. im not gonna believe this until i see a video. but since we only get a "believe what you want" reply, i feel confirmed in my opinion. it really isnt much to record an average and post it, i dont want to hate or something, this progression is just way too ridiculous to make someone believe it.
