I find when cubeing (very new to it) after cubing for about 15 min a get a serious headache and I rarely ever get them. I was wondering does anyone else suffer from this also maybe it's because I cube with cube on my lap instead of on a table so i'm looking downwards, maybe that has something to do with it. any advice?

If you have identified the potential problem why not verify that cubing on your lap is the problem by cubing on a desk?

Unless you're pressing your neck down so hard it's cutting off your carotids, I doubt looking down causes your headaches. But don't cube like that, you'll hunch. Sit at a chair.

Are you bludgeoning yourself in the face with the cube?

In all seriousness, leaning forward for any period of time can cause neck issues and headaches. This is because the human head weight c.12lb when maintaining good posture, increasing to c.42lb when leaning forwards. You head weighs 3 1/2 times as much, and exerts pressure on your neck muscles, which press on the nerves in your shoulders and neck...

Google 'forward head posture'. Something to avoid before you spend 10 years in desk jobs and ruin your upper back like me!!!

It might be your cube. If it's extremely difficult to turn, the stress on you fingers might cause a headache. I did suffer from occasional headaches when I first started cubing, but it went away fairly quickly.

Maybe see a doctor.

You know, before consulting a forum of speedcubers for medical advice.

Leaning your head forward does not increase its mass, nor does it increase the Earth's gravity, therefore it does not increase how much your head weighs.

It does however significantly increase the torque required by your neck muscles to keep your head up.
