[Official] DNF 2x2 Average (Massive WR Fail Alert) - Chris Olson

Thank you for adding this comment. I have never been to a competition that has a judges round. (or didn't notice it going on). I don't know if that makes what is going on here better or worse but that is up to the people that were involved to decide. It just looked very unofficial to me.

What is the purpose of a judges round? I assume it is to push the fast/experienced people forward so they can do the judging and scrambling first. I ask because 10 minutes for 5 2x2x2 solves doesn't seem like it is helping the time schedule

A lot of times Midwest comps don't have very many people who volunteer to help judge. So we have all our judges do a round earlyish so that way they can just judge/scramble for the rest of the event.

1e2) Every competitor must be available for judging. If he is required to judge, a competitor may be excused only for a legitimate reason (e.g. being unfamiliar with a puzzle), at the discretion of the Delegate. Penalty: disqualification from the competition (see Regulation 2k).

^^Completely agree with this! So now some people have different scrambles from others because they don't volunteer for judging/scrambling?

Yes. And this regulation was announced at the beginning of the comp. But the organizer still wanted to do a judges round.

Yes. Which can be quite annoying. Some delegates (Like Mike Hughey) don't do a judges round and he just makes it work because he only wants one set of scrambles. But I think the majority of comps I've been to have used different sets for multiple heats.
