hey guys, I had the idea of selling modded shenghou cubes, but i can go and mod other cubes like zhanchis and guhongs. I need all of your opinions whether or not you would be interested in buying these cubes. One of the cubes i have modded is reviewed by TheCubologist on YouTube : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKUrNLlSPgM It doesn't matter if you say yes or no, i would like opinions nevertheless. Thanks Guys! (Btw, another one of the cubes I've modded is in this thread : http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/showthread.php?45484-Fully-Modded-White-ShengShou-4x4-v4-for-Sale )

I personally might be interested in the prices are reasonable. Now, I am a firm believer that modding isn't necessary on 3x3s.I just don't think they give a significant increase in speed or turning capabilities (that is if you have a high end cube, ie. Zhanchi, Weilong, etc. and have lubed/tensioned it properly). Now, for large cubes like 5x5 + , I could see where it might be useful and more people might be interested. These are my first thoughts about your offer.

I think the price for a modded 3x3 would be a little above $20, could be less. for big cubes, maybe in the high 20's just because I how long the modding takes.

The other thing I've always wondered about modding is if a specific mod is so spectacular that one must have it in order to improve his or her speed, then doesn't that mean that a company will probably start producing its cubes with this"mod" (now a standard)? That would make your work almost absolute after a while. If the companies aren't incorporating the mod in to their standard style, then it must not be a significant difference.

Yes, i see what you are saying. I feel that my work is good enough to make a significant difference in a cube. I think companies like Shengshou don't do the mod maybe because it costs extra money to mod every piece.

This is a valid point, I could see where companies might not think it cost efficient to change their molds.

That's because ShengShou doesn't have many competitors. Only now is there finally the Moyu Weisu to compete with the popular ShengShou 4x4. If there was another company to do big cubes that has comparable price and performance then whoever has the "pre-modded" cube would win.

I probably wouldn't buy a modded cube unless I can get it for only slightly more than the unmodded one but I guess it all depends on value. If mod takes a LOT of time and improves performance by a LOT then the prices could be more.
