Just curious if anyone besides me does this.

I use () to indicate doing at the same time I.e. (R L) or (Rw R)
I use [] for same set of moves i.e. [L’ U L] M’ [L’ U L]
I Use {} for same set of moves inversed i.e. {R U R’ U’} y {U R U’ R’}
And then I color code easy moves like R U R’ U’

What do you guys do, if anything?

I write down algorithms without any special specific annotation usually without spaces.

Anything that needs to be denoted like fingertrick explanations can be explained in english sentences underneath.

I'll use U2' where some people would use U2, and [Lw R] when two moves are to be done at the same time. Other than that, nothing. If teaching a beginner, I might sometimes use () for when there are moves that are repeated frequently in other algs e.g. (R U R' U'), (R U2 R'), (R' F R F') etc.

Although no one can stop you from using your preferred notation, I suggest keeping things standard. If everyone comes up with their own favored interpretation for brackets/braces, people won't be able to read each other's algs.

I suggest using only parentheses for there. If a set of moves repeats, parentheses should hopefully be enough of a cue.
I would write your algs as:

- (R L)
- (L' U L) M' (L' U L)
- [R U R' U', y] (it takes a bit of getting used to reading off commutator/conjugate notation, but it's very useful.)

Color coding or underlining is a useful way to mark things since the *text* of the algori

Although I agree with you, I was going for more of your own personal stash of algs (IDK if anyone else has these). I keep for example all OLLs on a word document on a flash drive and printed out in a folder. I make it easier and faster to memo the algs by including all of the annotating. Just something that helps me.

But yes, if everyone used their own and posted on the wiki, then the wiki would be confusing and hard to read.
