Hi, my name is Jodi but family and close friends call me Dojers. I first got into cubing about '82 or '83 (can't remember - old age sucks LOL) and that lasted for a couple of weeks then I fell out of it.
Recently, I became disabled and due to meds and nerve damage I am slowly losing my ability to focus and remember things and one day I saw a Rubik's Cube in the store and decided to get it (not thinking about the brain help it'd end up giving me). Now I have a regular Rubik's Cube, Dayan 5 ZhanChi 3x3x3 Speed Cube, a LanLan stickered 4x4 speed cube, a Shengshou 5x5x5 6.5cm V III Speed Cube Puzzle, plus I'm currently waiting on a Shengshou V3 Aurora ( Jiguang ) 3x3x3 Speed Cube Puzzle. Shoulda paid attention where it was coming from cuz the earliest I can expect it is Nov 13!!! Yeah, I've only been doing this about a month and I've already gone nuts on buying cubes. I have to admit tho - that Dayan ZhanChi (how do you pronounce that? Zan Chee or Zahn Chee or Chi? Just curious - hate sounding like a noob even tho I am one!!) is a sweet cube to play with. I have my time down between 2 to 4 minutes depending on how often I screw it up tho I did have 2 right in a row where I did 49 seconds and 50 seconds but that was just a lucky cube scramble! I wish I was always that fast. But with the nerve damage, my hands tremble which makes it hard to hold the cube. I'm trying the finger tricks hoping that helps with rehab as well. Who knows? Maybe I will get under a minute consistently tho I'd be happy with a steady 2 mins (not that I won't keep trying!)
On to other things - married - got 2 sons and 6 grandkids ranging from 13 yo down to 1 week old. I also have a dog named Ginger - she's (and I'm not sure about the "profanity" thing here so I'm going to spell it out with spaces) a C O C K A P O O which, if you can't tell, is a mix of a c o c ker and a poodle.
Otherwise - that's about it. I'm currently trying to learn the Fridrich method after completing a couple of different beginner methods that I mostly combined for my own use but I want to KNOW why I'm doing what I'm doing and not just doing algorithms so I figured Fridrich seemed to be the best method for a noob to start with.
Looking forward to seeing what I can learn here!
