Whilst there are threads sub 15, sub 20, etc. There are none dedicated to be sub 10, so this thread also serve the purpose of collecting all the info to be sub 10, if there is any at all.

So i've been stuck at sub 15 for like months now, and sub 10 still seem far far away. i rarely get sub 10 solves, but a lot of my "better" solves are 10.xy, most are even 10.0x. I'm like just missing something to get that solve to be sub 10. my averages is usually 12s on a normal day, 11s on a good day, 14s on a bad day.

i have used the magical search function, and here is the result: not helpful

So to anyone who is sub 10, i want to know what you did to break that barrier. I'm aware that there aren't many who has archived this, but anyone who can help me is welcome.

Basically any info on becoming sub 10 is helpful. Thanks in advance.

Reserved space for info here:
Practice
Look ahead
Know full OLL + PLL
Decent TPS
Cross + first F2L transition - no pause
Sub 1.5 OLL + PLL
No pause during F2L
COLL/OLLCP could be useful
Slow motion video to analyse your own solve

Hold on there sugarcube, 7 tps is enough for sub 8.

thats with no pause what so ever, most cuber can do an alg at 7 tps, its not even hard, but they arent sub 8 are they? during a solve you do a magical thing called pause, and that take up time my dear. so you need a high tps to get good time.

simply dividing moves on average by 10 does not give you the tps you need, see above reason.

I don't think you understand how tps works. Find your average move count then divide it by average.

i know full oll pll. anything else i need to learn?

how to practice lookahead beside turning slow?

define decent tps plz. 7tps?

Thanks :)

Random COLL/OLLCP cases can be useful. More algs for F2L is good too.

Just make a conscious effort to turn at a slow enough speed that you can effectively lookahead (It's tempting to just turn fast and pause, but that won't help your lookahead :p)

6 tps is enough for sub 10 if you're fairly efficient.

EDIT: Stop being condescending to everyone -____-

no that give you the tps for a whole solve, not you actual tps whilst turning. like during a alg you can easily have 12+ TPS

i tried that, but it only work when i dont know how to look ahead, dont actually improve my look ahead, how to do it more effictively? btw i can turn at a fast speed(not really my top speed, but a fairly fast speed) and have no pause, but how to make that speed faster? in other words how to turn faster yet not pausing, i dont think slow turning will help.

EDIT: sorry that i sound like im being hostile. im not and is thankful to all that replied. just im tired of hearing practice and unhelpful comments like that.

Of course there is a difference between tps for one alg and tps for the solve. We're obviously talking about tps for the solve. It's impossible to say what tps you need in algorithms, because of the pauses etc. (like you mentioned).

Talking about tps is useless here. It can be translated to "To be sub 10 you have to have xx TPS or solve the cube in sub 10 seconds". I'm fairly sure that everyone knows that 6TPS on a 60 move solve = 10 seconds. It doesnt really help to point out the TPS for the whole solve, as it does not take count of the pauses, time for recognition and look ahead. You are not getting better at "TPS" in the sense what TPS means if you make less pauses. You are improving in TPS if you do a PLL perm in 1 second instead of 2. In the end it is about how many turns you can do per second. You can extend it to the whole solve but that doesnt really help much.

What matters in my opinion are the cut offs of the solve. Advanced F2L, like learning how to solve 2 cases at a time (I've seen this on one of Felik's 3x3 example solve videos), PLL and OLL drilling. Try to sub 1 every PLL and then every OLL, or sub 3-4 the whole LL (reaction time included in 3-4). At your speed I suppose it would be best to focus on single algorithms until you can comfortably sub-1 them whenever you want.

If I remember right to sub 10 you should do F2L in 6ish seconds and LL in a bit less than 4. Where are you with this?

Look at this, someone who is sub 20 gives the best advice out of anyone. Nicely done.

I dont need to sub 10 to give advice. I can know the exact physics of how Usain Bolt ran 100m without being able to reproduce it myself. The OP asked for any help.

What I said there is mostly common sense and stuff I've read around the forums. Instead of popping in with the sole purpose of being condescending how about you try and help with some real advice since you've hit that magical sub 10 line atleast once and therefore are, atleast according to you, more qualified than I am.

I was actually being serious but didn't feel qualified to give advice. I am not more qualified as I am not at all and neither are you.

Explain to me how exactly one gets qualified to give advice on cubing? We are not back 10000 years where the eldest of the tribe taught everyone else to eat and take a crap.
It's a thing called the internet. I have eyes, I can read, I can filter information and then share it through this so called internet to others. If you're insecure about giving advice because you feel like you dont know enough, then dont, but dont come to bash any other attempts of trying to be helpful. I suppose its the OP's decision to decide whether he likes or dislikes my advice.

You are not even trying to help here.

Look back up at my comments and re read them. I clearly said you helped more then anyone else. The qualified part was a joke, however stupid it seems.
